Acting President visits and presents gifts to policy families and children in Tay Ninh

On the afternoon of April 8, Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and her delegation visited and presented 70 gifts to policy families, poor households and children in difficult circumstances in Duong Minh Chau district, Tay Ninh province; and presented 200 million VND from the Vietnam Children's Fund to the Tay Ninh Provincial Children's Fund.

This is an activity towards the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024) and the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).

During the visit and gift-giving ceremony, Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan praised the achievements and results that the Party Committee, government and people of Tay Ninh province have achieved in recent years in terms of economy, society, national defense and security. Tay Ninh has nearly 240km of border, so the province is not only a gateway connecting trade between Vietnam and Cambodia but also with ASEAN countries.

Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan reviewed the heroic and glorious historical traditions of Tay Ninh. The land and people here have overcome sacrifices and losses from wars to protect national independence and freedom, and overcome the challenges of a province with many difficulties and a low starting point to rise up and achieve many important achievements. Specifically, the economic growth rate is quite good (reaching 6.12%), higher than the national average; GRDP per capita reached over 3,900 USD. Tay Ninh has made a breakthrough in attracting investment, shifting economic structure, developing industry and tourism. In 2023, the province's import and export turnover will increase, and key tourism projects will attract a large number of tourists (over 5 million visitors).

Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan highly appreciated the province for focusing on accelerating economic development while paying attention and allocating adequate resources to ensuring social security, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, and caring for people with meritorious services. Up to now, the province is among the top 10 provinces and cities with the lowest poverty rate in the country. This shows that Tay Ninh has made great efforts and paid great attention to hunger and poverty reduction, improving the material and spiritual life of the people; paying attention to education and training, caring for and developing local human resources.

Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan hopes that the Party Committee, army and people of Tay Ninh will continue to promote tradition and make more efforts to complete the assigned tasks; in particular, the province needs to focus on two tasks: accelerating economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the region. Tay Ninh still has a lot of room, it is necessary to maximize the available potential and advantages, especially in tourism, high-tech agriculture, urbanization and logistics. The province strengthens cooperation and close coordination with Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces in the region to create investment attraction chains, linking production in both aviation and sea to create new breakthroughs.

Reporting to the working delegation, Ms. Huynh Vuong Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Duong Minh Chau district, said that in recent years, social security work in the area has always received special attention from Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, with leadership, direction, close coordination, and timely, complete and proper implementation for the subjects. Social mobilization sources have always been promoted, contributing to taking care of poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households in the area. Up to now, there are 550 policy beneficiaries in the district, including 2 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; over 4,100 social protection beneficiaries. In 2023, the number of poor and near-poor households in the district will be 247, accounting for 0.74%.
