DNVN - According to Mr. Tran Duc Nghia - Chairman of Hanoi Logistics Association, according to a survey by EuroMonitor, the cold supply chain for the retail market in Vietnam has an estimated market size of up to 10 billion USD/year. This is a huge potential for cooperation between Vietnamese logistics enterprises and partners from Taiwan (China).

Speaking at the exchange session with the theme “Cold supply chain for Vietnam”, on the afternoon of August 5, Mr. Dinh Vi - Head of the Economic Department of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Taiwan (China) summarized the coordination programs between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and relevant agencies of Taiwan to promote cooperation in the field of logistics between the two sides in recent years.

Accordingly, the bilateral economic and trade relations between Taiwan and Vietnam are very close. Taiwan is currently the 4th largest investor in Vietnam and also the 5th largest trading partner of Vietnam. Vietnam currently has over 27 thousand international students in Taiwan.

Not only that, according to the latest survey by the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan, Taiwanese enterprises consider Vietnam as the top choice when investing abroad. Many Taiwanese enterprises continuously come to Vietnam to survey investment, thereby clearly showing the increasingly important role of Vietnam in the global supply chain.

Representatives of the President of Hanoi Logistics Association and Taiwan Cold Chain Association signed a memorandum of cooperation.

Mr. Tran Duc Nghia - Chairman of Hanoi Logistics Association said, according to EuroMonitor survey, cold supply chain for retail market in Vietnam including fresh food, pharmaceuticals... has an estimated market size of up to 10 billion USD/year.

For the agricultural and aquatic products industry, according to a study conducted by Can Tho University in June 2021, up to 83% of products were not cold stored after harvest, 11% were stored improperly, and only 6% were cold stored. This is the leading cause of post-harvest losses in both quantity and value of goods.

The above figures demonstrate the great potential for cooperation between logistics enterprises in Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular with partners from Taiwan.

Mr. Freezer Lin - President of the Taiwan Cold Chain Association shared that in Taiwan, cold chain logistics services have developed significantly in recent years. Taiwan has made efforts to provide temperature-controlled facilities and transportation means to serve customers in the food and pharmaceutical industries, and the number of logistics companies has also increased continuously.

Thanks to Taiwan's advanced technology and complete cold chain logistics services, product quality and safety are guaranteed. At the same time, promote economic development and international trade; focus on ecological sustainability and reduce carbon emissions.

“We firmly believe that in the current global economic environment, the development of cold chain logistics services will play a positive role in promoting economic and trade cooperation between the two sides,” Mr. Freezer Lin emphasized.

Within the framework of the event, Mr. Tran Duc Nghia - Chairman of Hanoi Logistics Association and Mr. Freezer Lin - Chairman of Taiwan Cold Chain Association represented the two associations to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation. Thereby, establishing common interests, programs that the two sides will participate in and jointly organize in the coming time.
