The working delegation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment today (July 25) had a working session with the People's Committee of Dak Nong province to grasp the situation in bauxite mining planning.
According to the Plan for exploration, exploitation, processing and use of minerals in the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, the bauxite planning area accounts for 27% of the natural area of Dak Nong province. Notably, the bauxite mining plan overlaps with 1,062 local construction projects.
Dak Nong provincial leaders said that this planning is wasting investment opportunities for other development activities, and is also a huge obstacle to the local economic and social development.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi said that bauxite planning is covering many works and investment projects in the province, causing projects to stop implementation, making it impossible to disburse public investment capital and comprehensively affecting the local development.
"We hope the Central Government will pay attention to resolving the issue as soon as possible, creating conditions for Dak Nong province to develop its socio-economy," Mr. Muoi shared.
Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen proposed that the Central Government soon provide specific instructions on the contents related to bauxite planning, from which the province has a basis to carry out the next tasks.
Dak Nong provincial leaders also requested departments, branches and localities to specifically collect stuck projects to submit to ministries and branches for consideration and resolution. If beyond their authority, Dak Nong provincial People's Committee proposed that the two ministries and related central ministries and branches work together to submit to the Government for resolution.
Representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment acknowledged the difficulties and problems related to bauxite planning in Dak Nong province and affirmed that they will work with the province to resolve issues within their authority.
