On June 26, the District 3 Police (Ho Chi Minh City) announced that they are coordinating with relevant agencies to investigate allegations that Mr. NTH placed a hidden camera to secretly film model Chau Bui (born in 1997) in a dressing room at a studio in District 3.

Regarding the surreptitious filming of women in restrooms and changing rooms, this is a concern for many women who worry about the possibility of sensitive videos being leaked.

This behavior is strongly condemned and causes severe harm to the unfortunate victims.

Placing hidden cameras in public restrooms or changing rooms in shops for the purpose of illegally collecting personal information, especially filming or photographing others without permission, is a violation of the right to privacy protected by the Constitution and the law.

Specifically, Clause 1, Article 32 of the 2015 Civil Code stipulates: " Individuals have the right to their own image. The use of an individual's image must be with their consent ."

The commercial use of another person's image requires compensation to the person whose image is used, unless the parties have agreed otherwise.

Model Chau Bui was secretly filmed in the dressing room.

Therefore, according to the law, the use of personal images must not cause harm to the person whose image is used.

In addition, Clauses 1 and 2 of Article 38 of the 2015 Civil Code stipulate as follows:

"1. Private life, personal secrets, and family secrets are inviolable and protected by law."

2. The collection, storage, use, and disclosure of information relating to private life and personal secrets must be with the consent of the individual concerned ; the collection, storage, use, and disclosure of information relating to family secrets must be with the consent of the family members, except where the law provides otherwise .

Personal privacy, honor, and dignity can be understood as sensitive and private aspects and images of each individual's body, and are among the inviolable rights of individuals as stipulated in the Constitution and laws.

Secretly filming or photographing someone else's body is a serious violation of social ethics and the law. If reported, the person secretly filming will face administrative penalties or criminal prosecution. If damage is caused, they must compensate for the civil damages as stipulated by law.

Depending on the nature of the act, the perpetrator may be prosecuted for crimes such as humiliating others, disseminating obscene materials, or illegally providing or using information on computer networks, telecommunication networks, or electronic means... depending on the specific act and its consequences.

Using sensitive personal images or information to threaten or extort money from others can also lead to criminal prosecution for extortion.

Furthermore, the law protects the reputation, honor, and dignity of citizens. Victims can also request the offender to cease the violation, apologize, make a public correction, demand compensation, or file a lawsuit in court according to the law to seek compensation.

Many individuals employ sophisticated tactics to gain likes, shares, or spread harmful images and content. We need to strongly condemn such actions and severely punish those responsible in accordance with the law.
