Today, September 30, in Da Nang City, the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee held a thematic conference on international treaties and free trade agreements (FTAs) in the Central Highlands provinces. The conference was chaired and managed by Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Nguyen Manh Tien with the participation of experts in negotiating and foreign affairs of FTAs ​​and representatives of ministries, branches, and leaders of 15 provinces and cities in the Central Highlands region. At the conference, delegates focused on assessing the implementation of international treaties and FTAs, including: the promulgation of legal documents to organize and implement international treaties; the organization of the apparatus, operating mechanisms, and coordination in the implementation of international treaties by the Government, relevant ministries, branches, and localities; the role and responsibility of relevant agencies in supervising the implementation of international treaties; assessing the implementation results and disseminating information about free trade agreements; obstacles, difficulties, causes, and solutions.

Speaking at the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong emphasized: In order to prepare for the opportunities brought by the new generation FTAs, in recent years, the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee has issued many decisions and plans related to the implementation of integration work in general and the implementation of FTAs ​​in particular.

At the same time, coordinate with ministries, branches, experts and business associations to organize training courses for officials working in state management and enterprises in the area to provide information, focusing on opportunities, challenges, and the ability to take advantage of free trade agreements; information on new trends that recent FTAs ​​in the implementation process may affect the production and business processes of enterprises...

In particular, local efforts in implementing business connection activities include connection activities between domestic enterprises and local enterprises with foreign-invested enterprises.

To continue to implement the new generation FTAs ​​more effectively, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong suggested that the Government, ministries and branches strengthen propaganda activities, disseminate the contents and treaties of the FTAs ​​that Vietnam is a member to localities and enterprises. In particular, consider grouping the target audience and disseminating information so that the propaganda content is closer to the needs and development scale of enterprises.

Support business groups affected by FTAs, improve connectivity with countries with which Vietnam has signed FTAs. Have mechanisms and methods to provide import and export data at provincial and city levels to serve local management and direction activities.

Propose that the Government, ministries and branches support and facilitate the completion of the infrastructure of La Lay International Border Gate, complete the construction of the Lao Bao - Densavan Cross-Border Economic Trade Zone Project, the Cooperation Project to implement the Quang Tri (Vietnam) - Salavan (Laos) - Ubon Ratchathani (Thailand) Economic Corridor, the Economic Development Project of La Lay International Border Gate area, the Digital Border Gate Project at Lao Bao International Border Gate and actively work with the Governments of Vietnam and Laos to have an official operating model at the Lao Bao - Densavan international border gate pair; research and develop the 500kV Quang Tri - Laos - Thailand power transmission line project...

Propose that the Government and the National Assembly create conditions and support to accelerate the progress of key projects with inter-regional connectivity as a premise and driving force to promote socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security such as: Quang Tri Airport, coastal road connecting the East-West Economic Corridor, road connecting the East branch with the West branch of Ho Chi Minh Road, My Thuy Port Area, Quang Tri Industrial Park, Hai Lang LNG project, Cam Lo - Van Ninh Expressway, Cam Lo - Lao Bao Expressway... and important energy projects in the province.
