The first A Rieu Chili Festival was organized by the People's Committee of Dong Giang district in coordination with a local enterprise at Dong Giang Heaven Gate Tourist Area, Ma Cooih commune, Dong Giang district. The festival had the participation of 11 communes and towns with many booths of typical agricultural products of each locality.
The goal of this Festival is to introduce and promote tourism and local agricultural products, especially A Rieu chili, thereby connecting supply and demand, connecting tours and tourist routes to Dong Giang district.
This is also an opportunity for people and tourists to visit the promotional space, introducing "Dong Giang Agricultural Products Fair 2024" with a scale of 7 booths of typical local agricultural and forestry products, especially products related to A Rieu chili.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Festival, Mr. Dinh Van Bao - Vice Chairman of Dong Giang District People's Committee, said: "This chili variety is recognized as a completely natural organic agricultural product and has been labeled with a 4-star OCOP label at the provincial level, contributing to improving the livelihoods and sustainable development of ethnic minority and mountainous people in the direction of commodity production and biodiversity conservation."
“This agricultural product is widely grown in many communes and has now been propagated on 12 hectares with about 100 households participating. This type of chili has a year-round harvest yield, with an estimated output in the area of 10.5 tons. When pre-processed, this chili variety will be preserved and processed into many typical local foods such as salted A Rieu chili, A Rieu chili sauce, A Rieu chili salt, sour salted A Rieu chili...”, Mr. Bao added.
In order to preserve, enhance the value and build a unique brand of A Rieu chili, Dong Giang district has implemented a project to preserve and develop A Rieu chili in Ma Cooih commune according to the planning for the period 2022 - 2025 with an area of 50 hectares in the district.
This festival has many impressive cultural activities such as photo exhibition of agricultural products and OCOP products, culinary display, presentation contest to promote local traditional cuisine and A Rieu chili products, gong and drum dance contest with sacred fire. Most notably, for the first time, people can watch the performance reenacting the ritual of carrying the sacred object of A Rieu chili...
In addition, people and tourists can also participate in many unique art activities, imbued with the cultural identity of the local people of Quang Nam province, with many recreational sports activities such as: Slingshot, swimming, A Rieu chili eating contest with Quang noodles, Great Forest Dance Show and cultural exchange...
Mr. Le Van Dung - Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee said that the first A Rieu Chili Festival will be an activity associated with agricultural product development and eco-tourism in Dong Giang district.
This aims to contribute to honoring and affirming the value, origin and brand of A Rieu Chili of Quang Nam province in general and Dong Giang in particular, contributing to the pride in the image of the people and homeland of Dong Giang, Quang Nam.
“Through the series of events of the first A Rieu Chili Festival in 2024, with the expectation of opening a channel for trade promotion, stimulating consumption and exchanging experiences and information on the application of scientific and technological advances and being a bridge between production and consumption, creating opportunities for businesses and producers to sign contracts for product consumption,” Mr. Dung emphasized.
