Quang Nam - Champasak exchange experiences in the operation of elected bodies in the two localities

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Xuan Vinh said that in recent times, the two provinces have maintained the organization of high-ranking delegations to visit and work. Thereby creating favorable conditions for the implementation of the commitments made.

Quang Nam and Champasak have many similarities, potentials and advantages that need to be cooperated to exploit and develop together, especially in the fields of culture, tourism, agriculture - forestry, trade and transportation. In particular, Quang Nam prioritizes the field ofeducation and human resource training. Currently, there are more than 160 international students from Champasak province studying in Quang Nam.

In the tourism sector, Duy Xuyen district (Quang Nam) and Pakse district (Champasak) are two localities with world heritage sites, My Son and Vat Phu temples, and have exchanged experiences in preserving and promoting heritage.

Regarding the activities of the People's Council of Quang Nam province, comrade Tran Xuan Vinh said that the People's Council of the province has increasingly affirmed its role as a local state power agency, representing the will, aspirations and mastery of the people. Since the beginning of the 2021 term, the 10th Provincial People's Council has successfully held 22 sessions, passing 320 resolutions on mechanisms and policies contributing to promoting socio -economic development, ensuring national defense and security.

“To strengthen cooperation and develop the friendly relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the Party, State and people of Vietnam - Laos in general and Quang Nam - Champasak in particular, on the basis of equality, solidarity, mutual respect and based on the actual situation of each side, the People's Council of Quang Nam province wishes to continue exchanging and sharing experiences to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the operations of local elected bodies in the coming time” - said comrade Tran Xuan Vinh.

In an exchange with Quang Nam, comrade Sai-thong Xay-ya-vong informed about the socio-economic development situation of Champasak, foreign affairs activities, cooperation with provinces and cities of Vietnam (including Quang Nam); information about the organizational structure, activities, tasks of the People's Council; election organization work...

“The Champasak Provincial People’s Council is only in its second term, so it does not have much experience in organizing activities. Through this meeting, we hope to learn more about supervision work; organizing the implementation of the constitution and laws; implementing the resolutions of the Provincial People’s Council; promoting the resolution of supervision results…” - said comrade Sai-thong Xay-ya-vong.

At the meeting, representatives of the leaders of the People's Councils of the two provinces informed about the activities of the provincial People's Councils and lessons learned, especially the activities of supervision, contact with voters, and issuance of People's Council resolutions. Thereby, they will move towards signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in People's Council activities in the coming time.
