To improve the effectiveness of regular meetings, in the context of many innovations, journalist Vu Kieu Minh said that it is necessary to increase the content of information in areas related to social security, security and order. These are all areas closely related to the interests of the people and are also issues that the press is interested in and wishes to reflect to provide information to readers... At the same time, to increase the interaction in the meetings between the chair and reporters and journalists, avoiding one-way meetings, Mr. Minh said that the meetings should encourage journalists and reporters to ask questions and provide information outside the scope of the meeting, and transfer them to the competent authorities for written responses or direct work afterwards... Only then will the press agencies have confidence and feel that the meetings are truly useful and effective.
Sharing this view, journalist Duong Danh Huu, General Secretary of the editorial board, Permanent Vice President of the Association - Thanh Nien Newspaper, said that, in addition to the management agencies, such as the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists Association, strengthening the control mechanism, strongly sanctioning violations; regularly inspecting, urging, and strictly handling cases of violating the Press Law, obstructing journalists from practicing their profession in accordance with the law, thereby creating favorable conditions for the press to promote the effectiveness of social supervision and criticism, " Local authorities need to have a mechanism to coordinate and exchange information promptly with press agencies and resident reporters. Information needs to be provided quickly, fully and regularly, especially information related to hot issues of special interest to public opinion... "
Applying digital technology to improve the effectiveness of managing resident reporters
This is one of the effective implementation methods in Thua Thien Hue province and is also a bright spot that other localities can learn and apply. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son - Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Thua Thien Hue said that with the desire to use digital technology platforms to solve problems in the exchange of information between press agencies and state agencies, while supporting the work of accessing information taking place in Thua Thien Hue province by reporters quickly, promptly and accurately, in addition to traditional forms of providing information to the press (regular/unscheduled press conferences, documents, telephone...), in 2022, the Department of Information and Communications officially put into operation the Spokesperson Network System operating at the address: https://cqs.thuathienhue.gov.vn.

“ We regularly update the list and objectives of press agencies registered to operate in the area; update the list of Spokespersons of provincial-level state administrative agencies on the Department's website and on the Provincial Portal so that units and localities can easily access and grasp relevant information when reporters of press agencies register to work, thereby supporting units and localities in speaking and providing official information to press agencies according to the objectives in the press operation license.
The Department has also organized training and support for staff who are Spokespersons and People assigned to support Spokespersons to operate the Spokesperson Network system at cqs.thuathienhue.gov.vn and the Hue-S application.
Currently, in order to standardize processes on one platform, the Department has completed and developed a Digital Communication Platform with the function of connecting state agencies with press agencies on the basis of integrating and upgrading the Spokesperson Network system into the process of handling field reports on the Hue-S digital platform.
In order to improve the effectiveness of communication work, maximize the achievements of digital transformation, based on the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Digital Communication Connection Platform integrated on Hue-S will be officially deployed from March 7, 2024.... " - Mr. Son said.
It can be said that organizing briefings or using digital platforms to connect media has provided a new method, which are all official and convenient information channels, contributing to enhancing the work of providing transparent public information in the relationship between localities and the press, helping resident reporters deploy information better and at the same time helping authorities manage reporters in the area more effectively.
