On the afternoon of June 11, the Center for Culture, Information and Sports of Cat Hai district (Hai Phong city) issued a notice about the overload and traffic congestion on the road leading to Cai Vieng ferry to return to the center of Hai Phong city.

The reason is that the number of people and vehicles from Cat Ba town center to the mainland is very large, leading to local congestion on the road leading to Cai Vieng ferry terminal.

Vehicles line up to board the Cai Vieng ferry leaving Cat Ba Island after a weekend trip.

Transporting passengers by ferry until 9:00 p.m. the same day still cannot release all the number of tourists, people and vehicles present at the ferry terminal.

Got - Cai Vieng ferry terminal is located on the shipping channel, so ferrying at night will not ensure safety. Therefore, Got - Cai Vieng ferry terminal management board informs people and tourists with cars not to continue moving to Cai Vieng ferry terminal to return to the mainland.

A representative of the Got - Cai Vieng Ferry Management Board said that the unit will operate at full capacity and operate the last trip at 7:00 p.m. on June 11. At the same time, they requested permission to run the ferry until 9:00 p.m. the same day to serve tourists.

On the morning of June 12, the unit will operate the first ferry at 4:30 a.m. to transport people, tourists and vehicles back to the mainland to ensure safety.

The Got - Cai Vieng Ferry Management Board said that since mid-May, the number of passengers taking the ferry to Cat Ba Island for sightseeing and tourism has increased. On average, the ferry carries about 10,000 people/day on weekdays and about 13,000 people/day on weekends.

During the summer and hot season, the number of visitors, especially those on tours organized by agencies, units, and schools, increases. Therefore, the unit operates at full capacity, with 100% of its staff on duty to ensure service to the people and tourists. However, there are still many times on weekends when the traffic is overloaded and congestion lasts for a long time.

According to Tien Phong on June 11, Got - Cai Vieng ferry terminal experienced traffic congestion from early morning in both directions from the mainland to Cat Ba island and vice versa. The reason was that on weekends, the number of tourists increased.

Despite operating at full capacity since dawn, the Got - Cai Vieng ferry management board still could not transport vehicles and tourists across the ferry in time, leading to traffic congestion and paralysis for many hours.
