Phuong Vu: 'I made many mistakes so I haven't had a hit yet'

Ho Chi Minh City Singer Phuong Vu, 36 years old, admitted her mistake of often being sad about love affairs and lacking in decisiveness, so after nine years of singing she still has no hits.

On April 20, Phuong Vu introduced her debut album Erro204, marking her career journey. Touched by the affection of colleagues and friends, the singer said: "I have waited for this day for a long time after many challenges. Now, I can prove to the audience that I am serious about my work."

Looking back on her musical journey, Phuong Vu admits that she lacked explosiveness and had no hits for the audience to remember. She believes that she made many mistakes in both her thinking and actions. "I always had to find ways to solve my personal mistakes rather than devoting myself to music," the singer said.

Phuong Vu is considered to have a good launching pad for her career, having attracted attention at many music competitions. However, after leaving the stage, she struggled to find direction and a team. The singer also admitted that she used to be very stubborn, rarely listened to other people's advice, and often acted on her emotions.

At the same time, she is often dominated by love affairs. In 2022, she broke up with her foreign boyfriend after 5 years together. "When many things happened, sometimes with public pressure and competition in the profession, I thought about giving up. Looking back, I see that I missed many opportunities to develop," she added.

In the past two years, Phuong Vu has learned to change her mindset. She listens more, puts aside love affairs to focus on her career. In 2023, she attracted attention with the image of Glass Jellyfish on the stage of Masked Singer season two. Phuong Vu sought out young musicians, chose songs with rhythm, and learned more choreography to create something new.

The album includes nine songs such as "When I'm drunk, I still love", "It hurts all today", "After crying, I forgot you"..., all with the same theme of love. Phuong Vu performs the songs based on real life experiences but without being sad. She said she used all her savings to carry out the project.

Phuong Vu was born in 1988, her real name is Vu Thi Phuong, from Hai Phong. She used to be an office worker in the oil and gas industry, and has been passionate about singing since she was a child. In 2015, she became famous online through videos of her impromptu "eating and singing" performances.

She competed in The Voice Vietnam 2015, becoming a student of Dam Vinh Hung. After stopping in the top 4, she continued to register for many other competitions, winning the championship of Who will become a star in 2018, The Cover show 2022. She was divorced once, then moved to Ho Chi Minh City to live.
