Nho Quan district is a locality with a large population of Muong ethnic people, a place where unique cultural features converge. In order to preserve and promote traditional cultural values, Muong cultural clubs have been established, including the Muong singing club in Dong Trung village, Quang Lac commune (Nho Quan). With the enthusiasm of the members, especially the women, the sweet Muong folk songs and traditional dances have been restored and spread.
Ms. Bui Thi Nam, Club President, shared: With the attention of the local Party Committee, government and the Women's Union of Quang Lac commune, in 2017, the Club was established and has become a common home for those who love Muong culture, where women can together preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of their people. The main activities of the Club are to collect, stage, practice and restore folk songs, traditional games and traditional customs of the Muong people. Many folk songs, Muong songs, and customs are practiced by members to serve in performances to celebrate major events of the district and the province and to participate in cultural and artistic exchanges with friendly units in Thanh Hoa and Hoa Binh provinces... Through these activities, the image of the beautiful cultural features of the Muong ethnic group in Quang Lac commune in particular and Nho Quan district in general is promoted.
Ms. Dinh Thi Dieu, a member of the Muong Folk Songs Club, confided: Joining the club, I not only learned about the history and culture of the Muong people, but also learned many folk songs and participated in traditional games, which helped me and my sisters love and be proud of our people.
Mr. Bui Nhu Gac, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Lac commune, said: In 2023, from the effective activities of the Muong Ethnic Culture, Arts and Sports Club in Dong Trung village, Quang Lac commune decided to establish 7 more Muong cultural clubs in the remaining villages and hamlets. The Muong Ethnic Culture, Arts and Sports Club in Dong Trung village was also changed to the Muong Folk Song Club in Dong Trung village. The activities of these clubs are effective, with the great role of the Women's Union at all levels in the commune, especially the responsible and enthusiastic participation of many female members who are members of the clubs.
Along with mobilizing members and women to participate in preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of Vietnamese families, in recent times, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has actively mobilized members and women to participate in activities to preserve and promote the cultural identity of ethnic groups and religions. Accordingly, every year, the Provincial Women's Union organizes visits and presents gifts to dignitaries, officials, religious establishments and religious core forces on major holidays; organizes seminars and training courses for religious core forces; promotes activities to prevent and combat superstition, heresy, and "strange religions"; organizes conferences to honor exemplary Catholic women's families and many activities to support Catholic and ethnic women... In particular, the Union at all levels has built and identified models: "Preserving the cultural identity of the Muong ethnic group" Club in communes of Nho Quan district; Folk song Club, Cheo singing Club in Yen Khanh and Gia Vien districts; Xam singing Club in Yen Mo district...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Man, Head of the Ha Thi Cau Xam Singing Club in Yen Phong Commune (Yen Mo) said: In 2021, with the attention of the province and district, the Club was officially established. Those who come to the Ha Thi Cau Xam Singing Club all share a special passion for this art form. In recent times, the Club has regularly participated in cultural and artistic activities at political events of the province, district and locality, contributing to gradually bringing this art form deeply into people's lives. Many Club members participating in cultural and artistic festivals organized by the province have also achieved many high achievements. The Club's activities have spread throughout the community, contributing to preserving, maintaining and promoting the value of this unique folk art form.
In addition, implementing the policy that each Association base maintains at least one form of culture, arts, physical education and sports to attract members, the Association at all levels has surveyed the needs and aspirations of members and women to support the establishment of physical education and sports models according to age and interests at the base. Up to now, the grassroots folk dance and sports movement has developed strongly; 100% of Association bases have at least one type of cultural and physical education club to serve the activities of the Association and the locality. Currently, the whole province has 2,025 folk dance and physical education clubs, attracting over 35,000 members and women to participate.
The training activities, cultural performances, arts and sports have attracted the participation of many members and women. Thereby, not only contributing to improving spiritual life but also effectively implementing the movement "All people unite to build cultural life in residential areas".
In addition, the Association at all levels focuses on building culture in the Association; actively participates in Party building and government building. Each Association official from the provincial to grassroots level promotes the sense of responsibility, initiative, and creativity in directing, operating, and organizing implementation; closely follows the grassroots, is attached to female members, is exemplary, and practices what they preach; cultivates the moral qualities of Association officials: Loyalty, altruism, dedication, and fidelity; criteria of Ninh Binh women in the new era; and implements "Cultural lifestyle in the workplace".
With the continuous efforts of the Women's Union at all levels and the community, the traditional cultural identity of Ninh Binh is increasingly being preserved and promoted. The cultural, artistic and sports clubs of the members and women have become bright spots in the cultural life of the locality, attracting the attention of many people, creating a unique beauty of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu with a thousand years of civilization.
