Tonight (January 20), within the framework of Science Week, the first VinFuture Awards Ceremony officially took place in Hanoi. The awards ceremony was broadcast live on Vietnam Television and livestreamed to the world through international media channels specializing in science and technology.
The ceremony was honored to have the participation and witness of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and outstanding scientists, who are the owners of prestigious world science awards such as Nobel, Millennium Technology, Turing... Besides, there were also leaders of the Ministry of Health , Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information and Communications.
Also at this ceremony, for the first time the public witnessed the presence of Ms. Pham Thu Huong - wife of Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong - Chairman of Vingroup Corporation. Ms. Huong appeared with her husband as co-founder of VinFuture Fund.
Ms. Pham Thu Huong has accompanied her husband throughout his career, is Vice President of Vingroup and is also one of the richest people in Vietnam (Screenshot).
Despite being the wife of the richest billionaire in Vietnam and holding the position of Vice President of Vingroup, Ms. Pham Thu Huong is very secretive. Until the award ceremony tonight, Ms. Huong had never appeared in the media, not a single photo or clip was revealed.
Ms. Pham Thu Huong (born 1969) was born and raised in Hanoi. She graduated from Kiev State University (Ukraine) with a master's degree in international law.
Ms. Pham Thu Huong is known as the person who has accompanied Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong from the early days of starting his business in Eastern Europe until today when Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong has become one of the richest people in the world. She and Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong built Vingroup, one of the largest corporations in Vietnam.
As Vice President of Vingroup, Ms. Pham Thu Huong currently holds nearly 170 million VIC shares (accounting for 4.47% of the group's charter capital) worth about VND15,940 billion. With this asset, Ms. Huong is in the top 10 richest billionaires in the current Vietnamese stock market. Meanwhile, her husband - Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong - is still at the top of the list of rich people in Vietnam with a stock asset value of VND202,225 billion.

The first VinFuture Awards Ceremony is an international event honoring outstanding scientific works and promoting the spirit of innovation serving humanity in 2021, with the participation of the world's leading scientists, policy makers, leaders of technology corporations and award winners.
VinFuture Foundation, founded by Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong and Ms. Pham Thu Huong, was launched on December 20, 2020, on the occasion of International Human Solidarity Day - an independent, non-profit fund.
The Foundation's vision and mission is to create positive change in the daily lives of millions of people around the world. The Foundation's core activity is to award the annual VinFuture Prize to breakthrough scientific and technological inventions that have, are, or have the potential to create meaningful changes in people's lives.

The award system includes the VinFuture Grand Prize worth 3 million USD, one of the largest annual awards ever globally; 3 Special Prizes, each worth 500,000 USD, for female scientists, scientists from developing countries and scientists researching new fields.
In addition, the Foundation also conducts many activities to realize its mission, such as research funding, academic development cooperation, and promoting STEM education.
This year, the main VinFuture Prize was awarded to three people: Professor Kariko, Professor Weissman and Professor Pieter R. Cullis for their special work on the Covid-19 vaccine using mRNA technology.
