Recently, the story of a class fund deficit in Quang Binh province was shared on social media, sparking outrage among many parents. According to parents' reports, the students in this class had previously paid 45 million VND for the entire year's fund (1 million VND per student for both semesters).
However, towards the end of the year, the fund deficit reached 30 million VND. Therefore, even though summer vacation was approaching, each student still had to pay an additional 1 million VND. This is the story that happened in class 11D6, Dao Duy Tu High School, Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province.

Ms. N., a parent of a student in class 11D6, shared more details about this story. Specifically, in the 2022-2023 school year, her daughter paid the class fund in two installments, each of 500,000 VND. The class has 45 students, so the total fund amounted to 45 million VND.
However, as summer vacation approached, Ms. N. received another notice that each student had to pay an additional 1 million VND, including 650,000 VND for the class fund and 350,000 VND for year-end travel and field trip expenses.
"Besides the aforementioned fund, during the school year, the class also solicited additional support four more times to carry out activities, but the spending was unclear. Parents have raised concerns, but the teacher hasn't explained. I don't know how much the fund is depleted, but asking each student to pay an additional 650,000 VND near the end of summer is unreasonable," Ms. N. said.
Regarding the incident, this morning, the leadership of Dao Duy Tu High School held a meeting with representatives of the parent committee and the homeroom teacher of class 11D6.
Mr. Duong Van Trai, Principal of Dao Duy Tu High School, affirmed that the teacher's involvement in collecting class funds or interfering in this matter was unreasonable; the teacher's role was only to advise and guide the parent-teacher association.
According to the homeroom teacher of class 11D6, the information regarding the contribution of 500,000 VND per student per semester is correct. While there is a deficit in the class's funds, the school is currently investigating the exact amount.
Mr. Trai added: "Perhaps parents thought that paying 650,000 VND into the fund, especially with summer vacation approaching, was meant to cover the fund deficit. This amount multiplied by 45 students is nearly 30 million VND. However, the homeroom teacher explained that the money would be used for other end-of-year activities, including rewarding students who participated in the academic competition and a year-end celebration... and not to cover the entire deficit."
According to the principal, the school will specifically check how much of the 11D6 class fund is in deficit and will come up with a suitable plan to make up for it at the beginning of the next school year.
"The school has stopped collecting an additional 1 million VND from students in class 11D6. We will also hold a meeting with all parents and teachers of the class to have a frank discussion and clarify the sources of income and expenditure, avoiding causing resentment among parents," Mr. Trai said.
The Quang Binh Department of Education and Training has also requested Dao Duy Tu High School to clarify and report to the Department so that appropriate action can be taken regarding the aforementioned incident.
