On July 10, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Le Van Chuong - Deputy Director of Chu Van An Continuing Education Center (District 5), said that in 2024, the center's enrollment target for grade 10 is 450 students, however, up to this point, nearly 400 applications for admission have been received.
Coming with her child to submit the admission application, Ms. Lam Le Trinh (District 6) said that previously, her child registered her first choice at Tran Huu Trang High School, but did not have enough points to be admitted to the school.
"I want my child to be able to continue studying at university in the future, but the tuition fees at private schools are too high, and my family cannot afford them. After consulting a few places, I came here yesterday to buy the application form and today I came to submit it," said Ms. Trinh.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao (District 8) said that she had gained experience from her relatives, so when her child failed to get into a public high school, she went straight to Chu Van An Continuing Education Center to register a place for her child.
"I learned that when studying here, my child will receive both general education and vocational training. After graduation, his rights are still guaranteed as in other public high schools, so I feel very secure," Ms. Thao confided.
Meanwhile, Ms. Hong Nhung (Go Vap district) has consulted private schools, vocational schools and continuing education centers but has not yet decided on a place for her child to study.
"At private schools, they only provide information about tuition fees, but they are generally quite high. Today, I came here to hear more information, then go home and discuss with everyone before deciding on a school for my child," Ms. Nhung shared.
According to Ms. Nhung, the reason for not waiting for the additional recruitment period is because most of the schools recruiting additional staff are in remote areas, and if accepted, traveling in the coming school years will be very difficult. Therefore, she and her family decided to proactively find a place for their child to study early.
According to Mr. Le Van Chuong, in recent years, the quality of education and training at GDTX centers has been increasingly improved. This is demonstrated by the fact that every year there are always excellent students who achieve high scores, pass the entrance exams to famous universities or some graduates who have directly started working, have good and stable incomes.
"This year, right after the Department of Education and Training announced the benchmark scores, many parents and students came to find out information and then submitted their applications. With this situation, the center may be able to recruit enough students this week," Mr. Chuong said excitedly.
According to the Deputy Director of Chu Van An Continuing Education Center, in the morning, students will study cultural subjects according to the 2018 General Education Program. In the afternoon, students will study free vocational training with 9 majors for them to choose from: Pharmacist; Restaurant and hotel services; Information technology; Beauty care and modeling; Chinese; Nursing; Accounting; Interior design; Tour guide.
This year, the HCMC Department of Education and Training assigned 12,036 10th grade enrollment quotas to the high school continuing education system.
