Earlier this year, a television report written using artificial intelligence (AI) technology was broadcast on HTV9 channel of Ho Chi Minh City Television.
In this TV report, the production team used AI to assist in writing the script. The results returned by AI provided a program framework, with pre-written content for each part of the script. AI also played a role in suggesting experts to interview for the report. After being broadcast, this was considered the first report written by AI in Vietnam.
According to journalist Ngo Tran Thinh, Head of Digital News Content Department of Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV), after the first report written with AI, this unit is still using artificial intelligence in the production and editing process of daily products.
“ We let AI meet with us. When we launch a new program, instead of sitting and thinking of each name, we ask ChatGPT and get 100 names suggested for reference, thereby shortening the time and having more options, ” said Mr. Thinh.
At the HTV Digital News Center, not only young people but also older reporters and journalists are still using ChatGPT to reference and frame stories. The reason everyone uses AI in their work is because there has been a fundamental change in perception.
"In the process of working, from the skeptical perspective of "Does this article use AI?", we now switch to another question "Has this article used AI?". Basically, this perspective has a positive impact. As a result, reporters spend 20-25% less time producing news articles, and the editorial office will also have more products in 1 working day ", shared the Head of HTV Digital News Content Department.
To use AI effectively, you need to know how to ask the right questions and use it correctly. Most new graduates do not have this experience. Therefore, HTV Digital News Center has organized training sessions on using AI to support new employees.
With the help of AI, journalists and reporters can handle a larger workload than before. Not only that, many older journalists at HTV can also create million-view TikTok clips with viewers mainly young people. Their secret is to ask ChatGPT to approach the problem from the perspective of the GenZ generation.
According to Mr. Ngo Tran Thinh, in today's digital newsroom, journalists and reporters must also become new generation journalists. Mastering the skills to use AI is the solution to the problem of how to create a new generation of human resources for the future.
