Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha directs the renovation and upgrading of National Highway 37 through Hai Duong.

The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Transport to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committee of Hai Duong province to agree on the investment scale, investment method, propose specific capital level and capital source to send to the Ministry of Planning and Investment for synthesis, report to competent authorities for consideration and decision in accordance with legal regulations.

National Highway 37 is the traffic axis connecting the provinces of Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son... to Hai Phong and Quang Ninh seaports and vice versa, from the provinces of Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh to Lang Son border gate.

The project to upgrade and expand National Highway 37 through Hai Duong has its starting point at Km87+403/National Highway 37 intersecting with National Highway 18 (at Km37+750/National Highway 18); its end point is at Km99+680/National Highway 37 bordering Bac Giang province.

The project is invested in upgrading to the scale of a level III plain road, 2-4 lanes, designed speed of 80km/h. The total length of the construction route is about 12km located in Chi Linh city, Hai Duong province.

National Highway 37, located in Chi Linh City, Hai Duong Province, is of great importance, serving the transportation of provinces to Hai Phong and Quang Ninh seaports and Lang Son border gate. In particular, the section passing through the Con Son-Kiep Bac National Historical-Cultural Relic Site and the densely populated area of Chi Linh City is often congested during festivals, unable to meet transportation needs.

Currently, National Highway 37 from Chanh Bridge (Ninh Giang) to Sao Do Intersection (Chi Linh) Km87+050 has been upgraded. The remaining section to the end of the route has not been upgraded.

According to the Vietnam Road Administration, the investment in the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 37 will meet the traffic volume on the route, reduce traffic congestion and accidents. In addition, it will contribute to limiting traffic congestion as well as enhancing the architectural landscape of the Con Son-Kiep Bac National Historical Site, developing the socio-economic situation of Hai Duong province, promoting trade and services, and accelerating the process of economic restructuring in the region.
