Today, February 13 (the 4th day of Tet), Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong visited and inspected the agricultural production situation at the beginning of the new year in Trieu Phong and Hai Lang districts.

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, up to now, the whole province has planted about 25,600 hectares of winter-spring rice, reaching 100.4% of the plan; over 3,000 hectares of corn, reaching 75% of the plan; over 3,000 hectares of peanuts, reaching over 100% of the plan; over 9,200 hectares of cassava, reaching 90% of the plan and over 4,000 hectares of various vegetables.
Recently, the weather has been relatively favorable, creating favorable conditions for crops to grow well. Rice is in the tillering stage, and early tea is actively tillering. Production during the 2024 Lunar New Year has been stable so far, with no natural disasters or epidemics occurring. Currently, farmers are taking care of, pruning, and fertilizing rice fields to promote tillering.

Regarding production linkage, this winter-spring crop, the agricultural sector and localities continue to accompany enterprises inside and outside the province such as: Quang Tri Trading Corporation Joint Stock Company, Quang Tri Organic Agricultural Products Joint Stock Company, Song Gianh Company, Trieu Phong Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative, Provincial Agricultural Seed Center, Thua Thien Hue Seed Joint Stock Company... to produce and consume organic rice, VietGAP, rice seeds, and commercial rice with a total area of over 1,300 hectares. Of which, the production area according to organic standards, VietGAP, and natural farming is over 372 hectares.
Through inspection and field visits at the beginning of the year, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong acknowledged the proactiveness of the agricultural sector and localities in developing plans and seasonal schedules; actively promoting joint ventures, partnerships, finding consumption markets, and increasing product value.
At the same time, it should be noted that in order to successfully produce the winter-spring crop, the agricultural sector and localities after the joyful days of Tet need to actively go to the fields to direct production, guide farmers in caring for and preventing diseases to protect crops and livestock; especially the rice areas sown early, sown before and after the crop time frame to promptly direct solutions to respond to natural disasters and diseases that may occur in the area.
Encourage farmers to plant all remaining areas, especially vegetables of all kinds. Prepare conditions well for raising aquatic species when the production season begins. Develop and replicate effective production models. Have a plan to regulate water resources reasonably, economically, and store water to ensure production for the upcoming summer-autumn crop. Continue to coordinate and invite organizations, individuals, and businesses inside and outside the province to support the linkage of agricultural production in the area with the processing and consumption of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products.

On this occasion, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong visited the model of linking commercial rice production using Ha Phat 3 rice variety at Ngo Xa Dong Cooperative, Trieu Trung commune, Trieu Phong district; the experimental model of raising high-quality beef cattle at the Center for Experimentation and Transfer of Agricultural Technology of Quang Tri Commercial Organic Agriculture Joint Stock Company in Hai Dinh commune; the VietGAP rice production model linked with Quang Tri Trading Corporation Joint Stock Company using ST25 rice variety at Don Que Cooperative, Hai Que commune, Hai Lang district .
