On the morning of August 8, continuing his visit and work in Malaysia, Party Central Committee member and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia and met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia.

Before the working session, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, the working delegation and the attending delegates observed a minute of silence in memory of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh reported to the Vice President of the National Assembly and the delegation on the current situation in Malaysia and the Vietnam-Malaysia relationship, emphasizing that Malaysia always attaches importance to developing relations with Vietnam. The fact that Vietnam is currently Malaysia's only strategic partner in ASEAN is proof that Vietnam holds an important position in Malaysia's foreign policy.

Accordingly, the delegation exchange activities between the two countries have been active and regular in recent times. As a bridge in the locality, in the first 8 months of 2024, the Embassy has actively coordinated and supported many domestic delegations to visit and work in Malaysia with good results. Research, foreign affairs and citizen protection work are also valued by the Embassy and have achieved many positive results.

Regarding the Vietnamese community in Malaysia, the Ambassador said that there are currently over 30,000 Vietnamese people living, studying and working, mainly concentrated in the Western Peninsula, in which the capital Kuala Lumpur, the states of Penang, Johor and Ipod are where many Vietnamese people reside and work.

The relationship between the two countries' legislatures has also been continuously consolidated and enhanced bilaterally and within the framework of inter-parliamentary forums of which both sides are members such as AIPA, IPU, APPF, and support each other's stance on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
