Hoang Nam (born in 1984, Ninh Binh) is a rookie at the Vietnamese box office. He used to be a radio MC but quit his job more than 10 years ago to experience his passion for dedication and discovery of reality.
Hoang Nam created a YouTube channel “Challenge me Challenge me” In 2014, he specialized in posting videos about mysterious stories and folk spiritual stories in Vietnam and many countries he visited. Passion for the mystery genre and real-life experiences led Hoang Nam to the decision to make a movie. "Ghost lights."
Movie based on "The Tale of Kieu" in the book "Legendary Romance" (Copying random stories) by Nguyen Du in the 16th century, tells the tragic injustice of a young woman whose husband was a soldier.
The wife stayed home every night, because she loved her child, she pointed to the shadow on the wall and said it was her father. When the husband returned, he saw that the child did not recognize him, he became jealous and chased his wife out of the house. The woman later returned to her dream and was cleared of her name, but when she appeared, she only said goodbye because she could not return to the mortal world.
The director and screenwriter replaced the oil lamp in the original story with a ghost lamp, a type of lamp that can open a portal to the underworld. At the same time the lamp is lit and the shadow of the boy is projected onto the wall, a vengeful spirit is released back to the living world, possessing the living to take revenge.
"Ghost lights" Combining the elements of yin and yang, exorcism with the elements of family and neighborhood love is being favored by Vietnamese audiences. Exorcism methods according to ancient concepts such as mulberry whip, children's urine, throwing salt... are also included in the film.
The work features many new faces: Thuong (the young wife) played by Diem Trang - a former student of Tourism and Vietnamese Studies, Phu Thinh (the husband) is a web-drama actor, Hoang Kim Ngoc (online content creator) plays the role of a shaman.

According to initial comments from the audience, the 3 actors still have some limitations in their delivery of lines, and their acting is not natural in many parts, but they basically do their roles well. The film is reminiscent of the Korean film Exhuma, which caused a fever in 2024, especially in the exile scene performed by Hoang Kim Ngoc.
Along with that, there are also veteran actors such as Kieu Trinh in the role of mother-in-law, artists Quang "Teo" and Chieu Xuan in the role of the village crier's family.../.
