These are the first Houthi attacks on commercial shipping in weeks, as the Israel-Hamas war threatens to spread across the region.

The Panama-flagged oil tanker Cordelia Moon was attacked about 110 kilometers (68 miles) off the port city of Hodeida. The unmanned vessel damaged one of the ship's stabilizers while it was en route to the Suez Canal.
The second attack targeted the Liberian-flagged cargo ship Minoan Courage, also en route to the Suez Canal. Both ships had armed guards on board.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for the attacks and vowed to step up military operations against Israel, after the group shot down a US drone in Yemen.
The Red Sea has become a battleground for attacks on commercial vessels since the Houthis began a campaign of attacks on vessels passing through the waters. The Houthis say the attacks target vessels linked to Israel, the United States or Britain in protest at Israel’s campaign in Gaza.
Recently, Houthi also fired missiles and drones at US warships but were intercepted by the US Navy.
