Economic development of hills and forests in Yen Lap

The policy of developing the forest economy has been identified and implemented by Yen Lap district since previous terms and has achieved many important results, the economic value of each year is higher than the previous year, creating jobs for local workers, promoting sustainable poverty reduction. In this term, the district continues to consider it a key task, concretized by Resolution 42-NQ/HU, dated April 12, 2021 of the District Party Committee on developing the forest economy, focusing on large timber trees, medicinal plants and fruit trees in the period of 2021-2025 (referred to as the Resolution).

Based on the objectives and tasks of the Resolution, the District People's Committee has developed and issued plans for organization and implementation; issued many documents directing, guiding and urging production in specialized fields; strengthened inspection, promptly supplemented tasks and adjusted solutions to effectively implement the objectives of the Resolution...

In order for the Resolution to go deep into life and be implemented urgently and effectively, the District People's Committee requires specialized agencies and commune-level authorities to proactively follow the district's orientation and plans to concretize them into plans, targets and objectives of the unit; strengthen inspection, supervision and evaluation of the implementation results of the Resolution's objectives.

Implementing the district's policy, the People's Committees of communes and towns have developed and issued plans for developing the forest and hill economy in accordance with the actual situation of the locality, identifying key objectives to direct, propagate and mobilize people to effectively implement.

Comrade Dinh Tien Duat - Chairman of My Lung Commune People's Committee shared: "Implementing the district's direction on developing the forest hill economy, continuing to encourage the development of medicinal plants, besides creating favorable conditions for people to develop, expand the area, improve production efficiency, the commune has mobilized people to convert medicinal plant varieties suitable to soil conditions and consumption markets, striving to reach 25 hectares of Morinda officinalis planted under the forest canopy by 2025 and maintain the production of some other medicinal plants".

Many localities in Yen Lap district have also actively exploited their strengths and converted crops according to the district's orientation and direction and the actual situation. The communes of Thuong Long, Trung Son, Xuan An, Phuc Khanh, Xuan Thuy, Nga Hoang... have actively expanded their planting areas, forming concentrated cinnamon growing areas. Communes with large production forest areas such as Trung Son, My Luong, Xuan Vien, Minh Hoa... have focused on developing large timber trees to increase economic value. Promoting their advantages, the communes of Xuan Thuy, Phuc Khanh, Ngoc Lap, Dong Thinh... have focused on expanding and improving the productivity and economic value of fruit trees...

With the drastic participation of the entire political system and the joint efforts of the people, up to now, Yen Lap has achieved and exceeded 7/8 targets of the Resolution, especially targets on forest protection, forest planting, cinnamon planting; applying scientific and technological advances to production, developing a number of concentrated commodity production areas. Up to now, the whole district has planted and converted 1,326.5 hectares of large timber forests, reaching 110.5% of the Resolution target; the area of ​​concentrated cinnamon planting has reached over 3,000 hectares (the Resolution target by 2025 is 2,500 hectares); the total area of ​​fruit trees is 919 hectares, reaching 114.9% of the Resolution target, of which nearly 19 hectares of grapefruit are granted VietGAP certification, 112 hectares of grapefruit and oranges are granted growing area codes...

Promoting the development of the hill and forest economy, in the coming time, Yen Lap district will continue to implement synchronous solutions. According to Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Trung, the district focuses on directing the synchronous application of scientific and technological advances in production to increase product value; expanding joint ventures and partnerships with companies, businesses, and farming households to consume products. Strictly implementing technical processes from production to processing and consumption of products.
