In recent times, the province has focused on developing infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, "one step ahead" in a synchronous and modern direction, creating an important driving force for socio-economic development.

According to the Quang Ninh Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the province clearly identifies its development goals and objectives, in which it maximizes the competitive advantages brought about by the increasingly complete, synchronous, modern, deeply integrated and comprehensive socio-economic infrastructure system, developing a comprehensive, modern and highly open economy.

Early recognition of the role of regional connectivity, especially the development of transport infrastructure, in recent years the province has proactively allocated resources to invest in transport infrastructure connecting with provinces and cities across the country. Thanks to that, Quang Ninh has taken on a new look, with a series of new transport projects, synchronously connecting with all localities in the province and the region.

With a length of 176km, the Hai Phong - Ha Long - Van Don - Mong Cai expressway is considered the backbone traffic axis of the province. This is the expressway that directly and synchronously connects all 3 economic zones: Quang Yen coastal area, Van Don, Mong Cai border gate. The construction of a modern traffic corridor associated with economic corridors and urban corridors has, is and will continue to expand new development space, new resources, new opportunities, not only for Quang Ninh but also for the entire Red River Delta.

In 2023 alone, the province will complete and put into use 26 projects and technical infrastructure works; including many dynamic and key traffic projects, typically Provincial Road 341, Binh Minh Bridge...

Provincial Road 342 project connecting Ha Long City with Ba Che District and Lang Son Province is over 60km long with a total investment of more than 800 billion VND. The starting point connects Ky Thuong Commune (Ha Long City); the end point connects Bac Lang Commune (Dinh Lap District, Lang Son). After more than 1 year of construction, the project was completed in July 2024. The completed route shortens the distance from Lang Son to Ha Long City, meeting travel needs, creating favorable conditions for trade of goods; contributing to attracting investment, opening up new opportunities for socio-economic development for both Quang Ninh and Lang Son.

Ben Rung Bridge, the third road route connecting Quang Ninh - Hai Phong, will open to traffic in July 2024.

Also in July 2024, the Ben Rung bridge project and the road connecting Thuy Nguyen district (Hai Phong) with Quang Yen town (Quang Ninh) were inaugurated and put into use after more than 2 years of construction. This is the third road traffic corridor project connecting the two localities, realizing the cooperation program, connecting inter-regions to promote development.

Quang Ninh province is coordinating with Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province to invest in and create a number of inter-regional traffic connection projects in the 2022-2025 period, such as: The route connecting National Highway 18 and the Dong Trieu - Quang Yen riverside road (Quang Ninh) with the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway in Thanh Ha district (Hai Duong province); the traffic axis connecting Yen Dung district (Bac Giang province), Chi Linh city (Hai Duong province) with Dong Trieu town (Quang Ninh province); investing in upgrading National Highway 10 from the intersection with National Highway 18 (Quang Ninh province) to Quan Toan overpass (Hai Phong city).

Prioritize investment in highly connected transport infrastructure, economic zones, industrial parks, seaport infrastructure and seaport services to create a center connecting international transport and service infrastructure. This will be a springboard for the province to attract investment in construction, development and completion of key seaport infrastructure and seaport services in Cam Pha, Hai Ha, Mong Cai, Quang Yen... Regarding infrastructure of economic zones and industrial parks, the province prioritizes capital allocation to build essential infrastructure and projects with spillover effects. This will be the basis for the province to attract investment in high-tech processing and manufacturing projects, clean industry, smart industry; projects with casinos, high-end island tourism, international comprehensive services...

Focusing on investing in developing and perfecting a synchronous infrastructure system, Quang Ninh hopes to create new breakthroughs, thereby creating momentum to promote the development of other fields, enhancing the province's position in the country and region.
