On August 8, news from Thoi Binh District Police, the unit issued a decision to administratively fine 7.5 million VND for the person who posted false information "12 crocodiles escaped from the cage".
The person fined is Mr. TTH (34 years old, residing in Hamlet 2, Thoi Binh Commune, Thoi Binh District). The reason for the fine is that Mr. H. provided and shared fabricated information, causing confusion among the people, as stipulated in Point d, Clause 1, Article 101 of Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP, dated February 3, 2020 on regulations on administrative sanctions in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions.
According to Thoi Binh District Police, at around 4:00 p.m. on July 31, authorities discovered a TikTok social media account named "nongdan69" posting the content "Warning Thoi Binh, Ca Mau has just released 12 crocodiles (large fish raised for many years), if anyone sees this video, remember to remind your relatives".
Conducting verification, the police determined that the owner of the above account was TTH. Working with the police, H. confessed that on the morning of July 24, on his way to buy seafood, when passing by a resident's house in Kinh 5B Hamlet, Tan Phu Commune, Thoi Binh District, he heard some residents (unable to identify who) say that a crocodile had escaped from its cage.
At around 10:00 a.m. on July 24, H. used the TikTok account "nongdan69" to post the above content with the purpose of warning people around to be careful, reminding parents not to let their children bathe in the river and to warn people who dig for mussels.
On the evening of July 31, Thoi Binh Commune Police contacted him for questioning. Immediately afterwards, H. deleted the post and admitted that the content of the post was his own speculation and that he did not witness the actual incident. H. admitted that the information about "12 crocodiles escaping from the cage" was made up by H. himself and was not true.
