On October 17, the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) for the 2024-2029 term opened.

Historical practice shows that the great national unity bloc creates great strength and is the source of all successes of the Vietnamese revolution. The more difficulties and challenges we face, the greater the revolutionary requirements and tasks, the more we need to unite closely, broadly and firmly; only unity can bring victory.

Important bridge between the Party, government and people

According to General Secretary and President To Lam, during the past term, the core political role of the Front and socio-political organizations has been increasingly affirmed, contributing to promoting the combined strength of the entire political system and the entire people in the cause of national construction and defense. The method of uniting and gathering people of all walks of life through organizing the National Great Unity Day in residential areas is a creative and effective way that is increasingly spreading widely. The Fatherland Front has successfully implemented major programs such as the project to mobilize the construction of great unity houses for poor households, eliminating temporary houses, dilapidated houses, etc. When the COVID-19 pandemic and storm No. 3 recently passed, the Front promptly launched donation movements, mobilizing people at home and abroad to join hands in preventing epidemics, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, and helping people stabilize their lives soon. In addition, the work of supervision, social criticism, and participation in giving opinions on Party building and building a clean and strong government continued to achieve many important results. The activities of supervising cadres and party members, especially leaders, in training ethics, lifestyle, and performing public duties have received attention and achieved positive results... With the achievements in recent times, according to the General Secretary and President, the Vietnam Fatherland Front is worthy of its role as a political alliance, voluntary union, and political base of the people's government; a core organization in promoting the tradition and strength of the great national unity bloc; an important bridge between the Party and the government and the people. In addition to the results, the General Secretary and President also noted that the content and methods of mobilizing, gathering, building and consolidating the great national unity bloc, although there have been many innovations, have not yet met the requirements and tasks. The implementation of campaigns and emulation movements in some places has not been very effective. Social monitoring and criticism activities have not met requirements.

Great unity is the key solution

General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that with the position and strength accumulated after 40 years of national renovation, with new opportunities and fortunes, we are facing a historic opportunity to bring the country into a new era, an era of national development. That is the era under the leadership of the Party, successfully building Vietnam into a rich people, strong country, democracy, equality, civilization, by the middle of the 21st century our country will become a developed country with high income following the socialist orientation. The General Secretary and President pointed out the task of the entire Party, the entire people, the entire army, in which the Vietnam Fatherland Front is to strongly arouse the spirit of patriotism, the desire to contribute, the will of self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride, and promote the strength of the great national unity bloc. The Vietnam Fatherland Front needs to unify its awareness of the position and special importance of the great national unity bloc and the urgent need, more than ever, to give top priority to consolidating and promoting the great national unity bloc under the leadership of the Party. This is one of the key solutions to bring the country into a new era. According to him, the great national unity bloc can create great strength, becoming an invincible force when it is tightly organized, deeply enlightened about the ideal goals, and oriented by the right path. He emphasized that the strategic goal of 100 years under the leadership of the Party, 100 years of the founding of the country can only be successful when gathering the strength of the great national unity bloc. In the current period, the Front needs to play a core role, preside over and coordinate with member organizations to unite all classes and outstanding individuals. To promote the vanguard role of the working class to the fullest extent, to awaken the great potential of the peasantry, intellectuals and workers. The Front must be the nucleus in protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints.

The General Secretary and President also affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam has no other interests than the interests of the people; the people are the center and subject of all policies and guidelines of the Party; all efforts of the Party, the State, and the entire political system are only meaningful when the people have a prosperous and happy life. From there, the General Secretary and President said that the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations need to proactively and actively find solutions to care for and improve the lives of the people. Detect, make recommendations to Party committees and authorities, and mobilize philanthropists to promptly support people in especially difficult circumstances and the disadvantaged, leaving no one behind. Proactively coordinate with authorities at all levels to effectively resolve pressing social issues right at the grassroots level... The General Secretary and President requested the Vietnam Fatherland Front to play a good role in chairing consultations and coordinating among member organizations in implementing social supervision and criticism, especially on issues of national security and people's livelihood; participate effectively and encourage people to actively participate in the fight against waste, corruption and negativity. The content and methods of operation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front also need to be innovated in both content and methods of operation in a practical direction, close to the people, accompanying the people, "when the people need - the Front is there, when the people are in difficulty - the Front is ready to participate". Promote the core role of the Front in widely implementing high-quality, practical patriotic emulation campaigns and movements, with the satisfaction of the people, competing to successfully carry out the tasks of socio-economic development of the country in the new period... The General Secretary and President deeply believes that the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels will continue to innovate, be proactive, creative, and gather a large and strong group of people. At the same time, together, we must join hands and promote the tradition of patriotism, the bravery and strength of the Vietnamese people, determined to overcome all difficulties and challenges, seize new opportunities, be self-reliant, proud, and confident to enter a new era - the era of the Vietnamese people's rise.

Great expectations for wise decisions of the congress

Speaking at the opening of the congress, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien emphasized that the 10th Congress is an important political and social event, receiving deep attention from all walks of life at home and overseas Vietnamese. All are placing their full trust and great expectations on the wise decisions of the congress. He stated that with the spirit of "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development", the Congress Presidium hopes that the delegates attending the congress will promote the spirit of democracy, solidarity, consensus, focus on intelligence, uphold responsibility to the people, to the destiny of the nation... Mr. Do Van Chien affirmed that with deep trust in the leadership of the Party, belief in the inevitable victory of socialism, the bright future of the nation, our country will certainly enter a new era - the era of national development.

Consultation to elect 397 members to join the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 10th term

On the afternoon of October 17, based on the submission, the congress unanimously agreed to 100% to elect 405 members of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee for the 10th term, 2024-2029. Of which, at the congress, delegates voted to elect 397 members, 8 of whom will be supplemented during the term. Immediately after the consultation, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 10th term, held its first conference. In the closing session today (October 18), the congress Presidium will report on the results of the 1st Conference of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 10th term, and introduce the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 10th term.

The first time "statement" is public and transparent

The summary political report by Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha clearly stated the important and comprehensive results of the Front in the past term. Eight years ago, when I left Vietnam for Africa, I was just a young man working abroad, wanting to improve my family's life and explore the world.
