On the afternoon of April 21st, a leader of the People's Committee of Hoang Tien commune, Hoang Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province, stated that at approximately 4 PM that same day, the body of an unidentified man was found washed ashore on the beach at Hai Tien tourist area.
According to the official, the body of the man, approximately 40 years old, was in a state of decomposition and was found near the pier of Hai Tien beach.

"After discovering the incident, the police are in the process of verifying the victim's identity. This is not a tourist who went swimming and drowned," the leader added.
