Speaking at the launching ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that over the past time, under the leadership of the Party, the drastic participation of the entire political system, the active participation and consensus of the people and businesses, and the help of international friends, Vietnam has achieved great and historic achievements.

In particular, the country's hunger eradication and poverty reduction efforts have made many strides and achieved important results. However, at present, the country still has over 315,000 poor and near-poor households in need of housing support. Therefore, the entire political system and the people need to join hands.

According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the goal of the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" is to mobilize the construction and repair of 170,000 houses for poor and near-poor households from now until the end of 2025.

To create a vibrant competitive atmosphere and effectively implement the movement, the Prime Minister requested all levels, sectors, localities, agencies, units, people and businesses nationwide to promote initiative, creativity and responsibility towards the community, especially the poor, to strive to complete the task of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025.

In the immediate future, the urgent task is to promote the resources of the state, society, enterprises and the entire people; multiply the nation's fine traditions and culture of mutual love and affection; implement the program in accordance with regulations, mechanisms and policies; use resources effectively, publicly and transparently... The Central Government will allocate budget capital according to programs and projects to support housing for people, especially the 3 national target programs and housing support projects for poor and near-poor households.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on each individual and organization, based on their functions and tasks, to promote their full capacity, enthusiasm, responsibility, initiative and creativity to join hands and contribute to help the movement develop extensively, substantially and effectively.

In particular, central ministries, branches, local Party committees and authorities need to focus on leading, directing and effectively managing resources to complete the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households; at the same time, synchronously deploy solutions to support people with jobs, jobs and livelihoods...

Heads of ministries, branches and local authorities need to uphold the pioneering spirit and set an example in performing their duties. For their part, media agencies need to do a good job of propaganda, creating social consensus so that everyone can support, share, and take responsibility for caring for the material and spiritual lives of the people, especially the poor, the disadvantaged, and those in difficult circumstances...

The Prime Minister hopes and believes that with the joint efforts, consensus, and participation of the entire political system, business community, and people, the emulation movement to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses will spread widely and be a great success.

At the launching ceremony, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien sent an appeal to agencies, businesses, organizations, groups, individuals in the country and overseas Vietnamese to respond to the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses". The Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will provide specific instructions on how to support, closely monitor and commit to using mobilized resources for the right purposes, publicly, transparently and effectively.

Responding to the call and appeal, right at the ceremony, many organizations, businesses and individuals responded to the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" with a total amount of support received of 336 billion VND, enough to build 6,720 houses for households with housing difficulties. On that basis, the campaign committee decided to allocate the first phase, prioritizing support for 40 provinces with high poverty rates and large numbers of temporary and dilapidated houses. Quang Tri is one of the localities that received 10 billion VND in support to help people eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

It is known that eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is one of the major policies of our Party and State. This is also a regular political task of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, organizations, enterprises, individuals, and all levels and sectors over the past many years. From 2000 to 2023, more than 1.7 million solidarity houses have been newly built and repaired for the poor and people in difficult circumstances nationwide.
