Launching the Hanoi Handicraft Product Design Contest 2024

With the theme “Creative Design - Convergence of the Quintessence”, the Hanoi Handicraft Product Design Competition 2024 will be held from May to October 2024, expected to attract over 350 new product designs. The competition is open to all organizations and individuals in Hanoi, with no restrictions on age, qualifications, or number of entries.

Launching the Hanoi Handicraft Product Design Contest 2024

Contest products are divided into groups: Ceramic products; Lacquer products; Rattan, bamboo, woven bamboo, and woven bamboo products; Mother-of-pearl, wood, and horn inlay products; Embroidery and silk products; Copper, stone, and other handicraft products.

Organizations and individuals participating in the contest will be consulted and guided by leading experts in the field of handicrafts in the process of idea generation and production design to best complete the contest products.

The judging process is conducted by the Organizing Committee in 2 rounds. Specifically, in the preliminary round, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Development Consulting will select products that fully meet the competition criteria to enter the final round for awarding prizes. In the final round, based on the products that pass the preliminary round, the products will be scored in detail according to the Organizing Committee's scoring scale. Based on the average score of the Jury, the Organizing Committee will select products to submit to the City People's Committee for decision on award recognition.

The Hanoi People's Committee will decide to recognize and award prizes to a maximum of 90 participating products in 6 industry groups, including 6 First prizes, 18 Second prizes, 24 Third prizes and Encouragement prizes.

The winning products/works will be displayed at the special exhibition area of ​​the Hanoi International Gift and Handicraft Fair 2024 and some typical events promoting and introducing handicraft products of Hanoi City.

Speaking at the launch of the Contest, Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting (Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade) Hoang Minh Lam said that the Hanoi Handicraft Product Design Contest is an annual event organized by the City People's Committee and assigned to the Department of Industry and Trade, and implemented by the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting.

The contest aims to encourage organizations and individuals in the city to actively create handicraft products with new, beautiful, impressive, unique and typical designs, contributing to diversifying product designs, especially products as gifts for domestic and foreign tourists, improving the competitiveness of handicraft products; is a premise for businesses and handicraft production establishments in the city to restructure their industries and products, promoting the sustainable development of the capital's handicraft industry in the process of international economic integration.

The award ceremony will take place within the framework of the Hanoi International Gift and Handicraft Fair in October 2024. The winning products will be displayed in the fair's special exhibition area and recorded for introduction DVDs.

In 2023, the contest attracted 146 organizations and individuals with 355 new sample products to participate, of which 90 products of organizations and individuals were recognized by the City People's Committee as winning prizes.
