On June 24, North Korea criticized the United States for providing military support to Ukraine, while Pyongyang affirmed its support for Russia's efforts as a "legitimate act of self-defense."

In a statement released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) , Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea Pak Jong-chon stressed: "If the US authorities continue to recklessly push their war machine into Ukraine to wage a proxy war against Russia, it will surely cause a stronger reaction from Moscow."
"Russia's right to self-defense is to carry out a strategic counterattack to protect national security from the increasingly serious threat posed by hostile forces. Any response taken by Russia will be a legitimate act of self-defense," Pak Jong Chon further explained.
According to the North Korean official, the country "will always stand side by side with the Russian army and people in the just struggle to defend the sovereign rights, strategic stability and territorial integrity of their country."
In particular, Mr. Pak criticized the US for recently loosening the agreement for Ukraine to launch cross-border attacks on Russian territory and wherever Russian forces are engaged, not just in the Kharkov region as previously agreed, emphasizing that this time "the US has gone too far".
Last week, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un expressed "full support" for Russia's campaign in Ukraine and pledged to strengthen strategic cooperation with Moscow at a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Pyongyang.
