Today, April 12, the Provincial People's Committee and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Vietnam held a meeting to discuss the implementation plan of the Project to build a Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled in Quang Tri Province. According to the report of the Project Steering Committee, in the first quarter of 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued the 2024 Operation Plan of the project; coordinated with Medipeace Organization to establish a temporary operating group; has organized and is organizing training courses on social work, rehabilitation, occupational therapy, and speech therapy for staff participating in project implementation.
Currently completing the draft of the Project on job positions and functions of the center. Agree with Medipeace on the list of equipment for the Rehabilitation Center according to the principle of prioritizing rehabilitation equipment for people with disabilities. Organize activities to support people with disabilities in the community and maintain and develop rehabilitation rooms in the community.
In the second quarter of 2024, we will focus on completing the approval of the project's feasibility study report, submitting capital allocation for 2024, selecting construction contractors, supervising construction, organizing communication campaigns to raise public awareness...

In the past time, Medipeace has implemented activities to build a network of rehabilitation rooms in the communes of Hai Truong, Hai Quy (Hai Lang), Gio An, Trung Hai (Gio Linh), Trieu Lang (Trieu Phong) with the goal of activating rehabilitation rooms as a place for disabled children and parents to share common activities, build a community network, improve children's skills and abilities in music and art activities, carry out assessment and intervention activities for disabled children... in Cam Lo, Gio Linh, Vinh Linh districts and Dong Ha city.
According to the plan, in 2024, Medipeace will hold 20 self-help group meetings for parents of disabled children in 8 districts in the province.

At the meeting, the two sides focused on discussing in detail the implementation of project contents in the coming time.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam agreed with the revised design presented by the consulting unit. At the same time, he requested the appraisal agencies to shorten the appraisal time but must ensure compliance with regulations and quality of documents.
In addition to the Korean consulting unit, it is necessary to select a competent consulting unit in Vietnam to implement this project. The consulting units must closely coordinate to speed up the progress of basic design (including basic design of fire prevention and fighting) to carry out related contents such as: granting environmental licenses, preparing feasibility study reports. The goal is to strive to start the project in August 2024 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the KOICA Office in Vietnam.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that, in addition to carrying out construction procedures, it is necessary to conduct parallel training activities, human resource training, building an operating network as well as trial operations so as not to affect the project's progress.
Request the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to coordinate with Medipeace Organization to complete the agreed contents, and actively advise the Steering Committee of the Project on Investment in Construction of the Center for Social Protection and Rehabilitation for People with Disabilities in Quang Tri Province to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles in project implementation.
