Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh receives UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri

During his official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on the morning of October 28 (local time), in the capital Abu Dhabi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed realizing agreements between the two countries, especially the Vietnam-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement to be signed soon, to soon bring the bilateral trade turnover target to 10 billion USD.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated the UAE on its recent achievements, with the minister's important contributions to economic transformation, sustainable development, economic diversification and digitalization, and promoting innovation, thereby becoming one of the leading financial, economic and technological centers in the region.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated the UAE on successfully hosting the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28); he believed that the “UAE Vision 2031” to turn the UAE into a global economic hub and a successful development model for the world will become a reality.

Sharing about socio-economic development, with the view that the Government should promote its role as a facilitator for business development, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam is in the process of transforming the economy, restructuring the economy towards improving quality, efficiency, rapid and sustainable development based on science and technology, innovation, digital economy development, green economy, circular economy, sharing economy, knowledge economy and suggested that the UAE share experiences and promote cooperation with Vietnam in these fields.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Mari, in his role as Chairman of the UAE Sub-Committee of the Intergovernmental Committee between the two countries, for his important contributions to promoting bilateral relations, especially completing negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that in the coming time, the two sides should promote cooperation and experience sharing to more closely connect the two economies, create breakthroughs for economic cooperation, promote complementary strengths, especially in institution building, developing financial centers, free trade zones, developing enterprises, attracting talents, promoting research, application of science and technology and innovation; strengthen the organization of trade and investment promotion activities, connect enterprises; promote people-to-people exchanges, tourism cooperation, and open direct flights between the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also asked the UAE to facilitate the import of Vietnam’s key products such as agricultural and aquatic products, fresh fruits and vegetables, processed foods, etc.; promote cooperation and support the development of the Halal industry in Vietnam; and aim for a bilateral trade turnover of 10 billion USD.

Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Mari highly appreciated Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements in recent years, expressing his impression of Vietnam's economic policies, especially in tax exemptions and reductions, attracting investment...

The Minister said he was very interested in learning about these policies and shared some of the UAE's experiences in business development, investment attraction, economic zones, free trade, talent attraction, intellectual property, visa policies, etc., especially procedures for registration, business establishment, and investment project implementation in an exceptionally short time.

Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Mari thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for his determination and active support during the CEPA negotiations, saying that the UAE side was very pleased and looking forward to the signing of this agreement, wishing to promote cooperation to maximize the opportunities brought by the agreement, creating a breakthrough in economic relations between the two countries.

In particular, the Minister said that the UAE wishes to organize a large-scale investment conference in Vietnam with the participation of leading regional and international corporations and enterprises, and prestigious speakers to share experiences, promote economic cooperation and attract investment from the UAE and the world to Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed and assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment and relevant agencies to coordinate with the UAE side to organize this event.
