Ga Ry Border Guard Station is in charge of two border communes including Ga Ry and Ch'Om with 12 villages, 922 households/3,578 people, mainly Co Tu people, whose economic life still has many difficulties.
Major Pham Duc Truong, Deputy Political Commissar of Ga Ry Border Guard Station, said that the Party Committee of Ga Ry Border Guard Station has implemented the policy of "Assigning Party members to be in charge of households in border areas".
Accordingly, in early 2020, the Party Committee of Ga Ry Border Guard Station coordinated with the Party Committees of Ga Ry Commune and Ch'Om Commune to conduct a survey and agree to select households to assign party members to be in charge of, including households with especially difficult circumstances, policy families, lonely elderly people, households with complex socio-political relationships, households with kinship relationships between the two sides of the border... Currently, the Party Committee has assigned 18 party members to be in charge of 110 households in the two communes.
To effectively implement the model of border party members taking charge of and helping households, Ga Ry Border Post selected officers and soldiers with practical experience and understanding of local customs and practices to help people gradually develop their economy. In Ch'Om commune, there are currently 11 party members taking charge of 66 households.
Captain Luong Van Hoa - Head of Tay Giang Border Control Station (a party member in charge of supporting and helping 7 households), shared: “I often go to the area to grasp the situation and aspirations of the people. From there, I advise the Party Committee and the station command to coordinate with the local government to help people develop the economy.
I went down to help the family expand the production area, guide them to grow vegetables, rice, beans of all kinds; guide and support people to build toilets, and at the same time, propagate and mobilize families to ensure public hygiene. After a period of support, family members have taken care of their business, and the family economy is more secure day by day."
Like the family of Mrs. Riah Thi Dan (Cha'nóc village, Ch'Ôm commune), which used to be a poor household and the family was not very harmonious. After receiving help from Captain Luong Van Hoa, Mrs. Dan's family life has changed significantly.
Mrs. Dan said: “With the soldiers showing us how to switch from farming to growing rice, supporting us with land preparation, planting, care, and harvesting; helping us breed pigs, chickens, and ducks; and instructing us on livestock raising techniques, our family has overcome difficulties and risen up. Thank you very much, soldiers.”
Mr. Polong Nang - Secretary of the Ch' Om Commune Party Committee said that since implementing the model of assigning party members to take charge of and help households, people's lives have changed significantly, with many households becoming rich.
Through this activity, officers and soldiers become closer to the people, gain their trust, and the relationship between the army and the people becomes increasingly tight. Thanks to that, the work of propagating and mobilizing the masses to strictly implement the policies, guidelines, and laws of the Party and State becomes increasingly effective.
