Previously, Nghia Dan District Police discovered a ring of buying and selling large quantities of firecrackers from the Vietnam-Laos border area in Tuong Duong and Ky Son districts to Nghia Dan district and other areas inside and outside the province.
Through investigation, the authorities identified the ringleader as Nguyen Canh Cong, who used to work as a driver in Laos.
To deceive the authorities, after smuggling the fireworks across the border, Nguyen Canh Cong colluded with Nguyen Van Linh and Nguyen Vinh Nghe to use many sophisticated tricks to transport the fireworks to the subjects' homes for hiding.
Identifying this as a large-scale firecracker trading and storage ring that had infiltrated from abroad, was complex in nature, and had a negative impact on security and order in the area, Nghia Dan District Police established a special project and mobilized forces and means to fight.
On October 15, Nghia Dan District Police and Anh Son District Police co-chaired and coordinated with the provincial police department to crack down on a case, arresting Nguyen Van Linh and Nguyen Canh Cong for storing and transporting illegal fireworks, seizing 118 kg of explosive fireworks.
During the arrest, the authorities also discovered 3 frozen monkeys in the car of the 2 subjects.
Expanding the case, on October 16, Nghia Dan District Police coordinated with Tan Ky District Police to arrest Nguyen Vinh Nghe and confiscate an additional 38 kg of various types of fireworks. The total weight of fireworks illegally stored and transported by the subjects was nearly 1.5 quintals.
The case is under further investigation.
