Ho Chi Minh City: A 400-meter-long wall that separated the airport from the residential area next door was demolished to make a 6-lane road, reducing traffic congestion in the Tan Son Nhat area.
In recent days, the construction unit has demolished a 3-meter high wall built along C12 Street in Ward 13, Tan Binh District, to create a boundary between the military area stationed at the airport and the residents outside.
The demolished sections were replaced with corrugated iron fences to ensure safety when constructing the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa road project, which is over 4 km long. This route was implemented by Ho Chi Minh City with a total capital of over 4,800 billion VND. When completed, it will reduce traffic congestion in the area. In particular, the main 6-lane route helps connect to the T3 terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport under construction.
Road C12 is the final section of the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project, which has been a bottleneck for many years due to its narrowness at 3-4 m wide. After the fence section is removed, the existing C12 road and its extension will be merged into the connecting road project, forming a new 6-lane traffic axis. Currently, inside the construction site on the route, many workers and machines are mobilized to level the road surface, install a drainage system...

A representative of the HCM City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (the investor) said that the above area is within the scope of construction package No. 13 of the connecting road project. This package began implementation in September last year, with main items such as road construction, retaining walls, sidewalks, and drainage. After completion, this section is expected to not rebuild the retaining wall but arrange auxiliary items to synchronize the landscape in the area.
The Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project is a key traffic project in Ho Chi Minh City. The route starts at the Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen intersection and ends at the intersection of C12 - Cong Hoa - Truong Chinh streets. Along with the construction of the main 6-lane route, the project will build two branch roads with a scale of 3-4 lanes. There are also two underpasses at the intersections and an overpass about 1 km long connecting Tan Son Nhat T3 airport station.

According to the plan, the entire connecting road project will be completed by the end of 2024. In addition to connecting T3 station, this will be a new route to and from the airport, breaking the monopoly of the only gate on Truong Son Street and reducing congestion at the gateway to Tan Son Nhat airport.
