Cuong Dam organizes the first fashion and art exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City
As the founder of two brands C.DAM and CHATS by C.DAM, Creative Director Cuong Dam has a decade of creative practice in the fashion industry. On his career journey, he has left his mark through outstanding creative catwalks. For example, the bold encounter of Rendezvous universes between the bustling streets and the more than 100-year-old space of the Hanoi Opera House; the reverse catwalk affirming the spirit of mastering the life of modern women through the Figure collection or the harmony between the appearance heavily inspired by Northern culture and surreal futurism through Inflowing .
Paramount Multi-disciplinary Fashion Exhibition opens on November 26 at Nina Next Space, District 4, Ho Chi Minh City. The event marks the first time Cuong Dam presents fashion works combined with sculpture, light experiments, music and art performance.
Paramount is C.DAM’s third project, marking a strong transformation of the brand when inspired by futuristic and contemporary elements as a design language. In harmony with the flow of world fashion, the brand creates a new reality - where the past, present and future seem to be one, then raises questions and responds to life’s questions.
With a strong voice of freedom, fashion tells a creative story through the journey to find the "higher—self" - the ultimate god inside each person.
The male artist shared that, in the context of conflicting views on fashion that still exist — from emphasizing practicality to calling for creativity not to be “boxed” within rigid frameworks — after 10 years in the profession, he is still steadfast in his philosophy of putting ideas into every fold of fabric. That is how fashion can go beyond the short-term, creating lasting vitality over time. Without ideas, fashion is just lifeless pieces of fabric, lacking real appeal and value.
Fashion and sculpture have long existed as two parallel streams, reflecting the sublimation of imagination, technique and knowledge. Using the contrasting nature of materials and shapes to reflect on the limits, the Paramount exhibition creates an impressive encounter between two creative forms, thereby affirming the process of deepening exploration and expanding the thinking of artists when creating works of art together.
The exhibition journey is emotionally guided by Thanh Chu's evocative sounds, thereby opening up a fascinating dialogue between art and technology, imbued with a different mindset.
The Story of "Hope" of Ô Exhibition 2024
Entering its fourth year of organization, the Ô Exhibition 2024 fashion, art and technology exhibition brings together nearly 30 multidisciplinary designers, photographers and artists, creating an emotional journey revolving around the theme of Hope .
Each artist offers an interpretation of the question of where Hope begins and what it looks like in each person's heart.
Coming to the event held from December 11-15 at Bitexco building, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, the audience entered a story about the sunset of humanity, going through moments of deep darkness and then being reborn in a new future.
The Ô Exhibition is part of the Ô by L'Officiel 2024 project, which includes the Ô Photography Contest and the Ô Inspiration Talks series.
The work is part of the photo series that won First Prize in the Ô Photography Contest 2023.
Curated by Behalf Studio founder Giang Nguyen, Ô Exhibition takes viewers through many stages of the world.
The post-apocalyptic world stage with the ruins of human civilization. The main materials used include stone, metal and plastic. Next, the exhibition brings metal installations and digital screens, thereby bringing the audience to the prospect of technology moving away from human control. This is a "strange yet familiar" scene in current life.
However, after all the thinking and pondering, what left a lasting impact was still the mind of the human hands that created the advanced technology before our eyes. From there, the journey of humanity was reborn.
