"The rules will be similar to the rules for my debate with (President) Joe Biden, but with a full audience in the arena," Trump posted on the social network Truth on August 2.
According to Mr. Trump’s post, the debate will take place on September 4 at a location to be determined in Pennsylvania, a battleground state that could help decide the election. Fox News hosts Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum will moderate.
The post was deleted minutes before being reposted, in which Mr Trump deleted his suggestion of holding a large-scale public dialogue on the evening of September 4 if Ms Harris "is unwilling or unable to debate" that day.
It is not yet clear whether Ms. Harris agrees with the proposal and the rules proposed by Mr. Trump.
Mr Trump said the Fox News debate would have a live audience. The previous debate between him and President Joe Biden had no audience.
The Republican presidential candidate said yesterday that he was "absolutely ready to accept" Ms. Harris as the new Democratic candidate. However, he also complained: "I spent hundreds of millions of dollars, time and effort to fight Joe Biden. When they won the debate, they put in a new candidate."
After a somewhat underwhelming debate with Mr. Trump, President Biden unexpectedly announced on July 21 that he was ending his campaign and passing the torch to his deputy Kamala Harris. Ms. Harris has now won enough delegates to officially receive the Democratic nomination.
