A nationwide survey conducted from January 22 to 24 among 1,250 voters of voting age found former US President Donald Trump leading incumbent President Joe Biden by 40% to 34%. The rest said they had no plans to vote for anyone or had other reasons, Reuters reported today, January 25.
The figures mark a breakthrough for Mr Trump, after a survey also conducted by Reuters/Ipsos earlier this month showed the two men tied.
In the context of Mr. Trump's second consecutive victory in Iowa and New Hampshire, about 67% of respondents expressed that "they are tired of seeing two familiar faces in the US presidential election this year, and want someone else".
The two candidates themselves appear to be ready for a rematch after the results of the Republican primaries in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Winning again, Mr. Trump said his opponent had no chance.
More than 50% of people are dissatisfied with the two-party system in the United States, and only 1 in 4 people support the current government structure in this country.
The new poll also shows Trump leading former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley nationally, 64 percent to 19 percent. The two will face off on Feb. 24 in South Carolina, where Haley served as governor from 2011 to 2017.
