President-elect Donald Trump's next Secretary of Defense will be Pete Hegseth, host of Fox News' 'Fox & Friends Weekend'.
The New York Post reported on November 13 that the US President-elect surprised political observers by nominating a television host as defense secretary.
Pete Hegseth, 44, is the host of Fox News' "Fox & Friends Weekend." He was previously a captain in the Army National Guard who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

After being discharged from the army, he started hosting TV shows in 2014 and most recently was the host of the above show.
Mr. Hegseth was born on June 6, 1980 in Forest Lake, Minnesota. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Princeton University, New Jersey, in 2003. In 2013, he received a master's degree in public policy from Harvard Kennedy School, Massachusetts.

After graduating from Princeton University, he served as a reserve in the U.S. Army National Guard. In 2004, his unit was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, where he was a platoon leader.
After returning home, he served in Iraq and then Afghanistan. He was awarded two Bronze Stars for his service overseas. He ran for the Minnesota Senate in 2012, but later withdrew.
He has been a host of Fox News' "Fox & Friends Weekend" since 2014. He is also the author of the book "The War on Warriors: Behind the Betrayal of the Men Who Keep Us Free."
At Fox News, he provided analysis and commentary during prime time. Prior to joining the network, he served as CEO of Concerned Veterans for America.
