In a comment on the social network Truth Social on September 27, former President Donald Trump said he had a "great meeting" with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York and that if he were elected president, the war between Russia and Ukraine would "end quickly". "If I am not elected president, that war will never end, and it will gradually turn into World War 3. Ms. Harris will never end the war. Nothing will change except for more death and destruction," Mr. Trump warned. The Republican presidential candidate said he supports a "fair" peace for Ukraine, but did not specify a solution to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Mr. Trump emphasized that he has a "very good relationship" with both the Ukrainian leader and Russian President Vladimir Putin. "I have a very good relationship with President Zelensky and I have a very good relationship with President Putin. I think if I win the election, I will solve the problem very quickly," Trump said. After meeting with Trump, President Zelensky said he was counting on the US's help in the process of achieving peace with Russia. Mr. Zelensky stressed that the US is the strongest supporter of Ukraine and the most powerful country in the world. According to Mr. Zelensky, Ukraine appreciates the support of the US and the American people. He also believes in the US's ability to lead any negotiations. He stressed that Ukraine has held a peace summit and will soon hold another one, in which Ukraine expects US support. During the meeting, President Zelensky informed Mr. Trump about the situation in the war zone, the activities and progress of the Russian offensive in the Kursk region, Ukraine's innovations in the fight against Russia and the losses of the Russian army. Mr. Trump and Mr. Zelensky discussed in detail the impact of the war on the Ukrainian people and the economy, as well as the general situation in the country. The two sides also discussed Russia's ongoing attacks on civilian infrastructure and Ukrainian cities, as well as the role of the US Patriot system in defense. Mr. Zelensky also stressed the need to block any opportunities for Russia to continue fueling the war in Ukraine with oil and gas exports, as well as to cut off all channels for supplying Western components for Russian missiles. The meeting between President Zelensky and former President Trump took place a day after Mr. Zelensky met with President Joe Biden and Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. President Zelensky is visiting New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly and meet with US officials. On this occasion, he presented to US President Joe Biden and two presidential candidates about Ukraine's "victory plan" in the conflict with Russia. Mr. Trump has repeatedly stated that he could end the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours if he is re-elected. He said he would force Moscow and Kiev to the negotiating table. However, Mr. Zelensky expressed skepticism about this statement and affirmed that he would not make concessions to achieve peace. During the election campaign, Mr. Trump repeatedly criticized the US for continuing to pour billions of dollars in military aid into Ukraine. He signaled that he would cut aid to Kiev if he was re-elected.Dantri.com.vn
