Trump grazed by bullet, 'appears to be target of assassination attempt'; President Biden speaks out, assailant shot dead

The gunman was shot dead by the US Secret Service, and a spectator was also killed in a shooting at Donald Trump's campaign rally.

Reuters reported that US President Joe Biden on July 13 called for an end to political violence after a shooting of his Republican opponent Donald Trump during his campaign rally in Pennsylvania earlier that day.

Saying that former President Trump appeared to be fine, Mr. Biden stressed: “There is no place for such violence in America. This is terrible.”

President Biden also noted that he had been well informed about the incident and planned to discuss it with his Republican rival. “I am grateful to hear that he is safe and well. My prayers are with him and his family, as well as everyone who was at the rally,” the current US President said.

Washington Post reporter Meryl Kornfield said Butler County prosecutor Richard Goldinger revealed that Donald Trump was grazed by a bullet but was safe.

Regarding the incident, on July 14, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he was "shocked by the shocking scenes at former President Donald Trump's election campaign" after multiple gunshots rang out at the event in Pennsylvania on July 13.

On social network X, Mr Starmer said: “Political violence in any form has no place in our societies and my thoughts are with all the victims of this attack.”

AP reported that US law enforcement said Donald Trump “appeared to be the target of an assassination attempt” when he spoke at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on July 13.

This was the first assassination attempt on a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981. The assailant was shot dead by US Secret Service, in addition, one spectator died in the incident and one person is in critical condition.
