Mr. Joko Widodo said he was very happy to visit the Vinfast factory despite the long distance and unfavorable weather. "I support VinFast's projects to invest in Indonesia and will direct subordinates to issue licenses as soon as possible," the Indonesian President told VinFast leaders.
The Indonesian head of state personally sat in the driver's seat of the VF9 and examined the details of the VF5, VF7 and VF9 models. Pham Nhat Quan Anh, son of Pham Nhat Vuong, directly introduced the car's features to Mr. Widodo in English.

During a meeting with Vietnamese and Indonesian businesses this morning with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, President Widodo also mentioned that the country has great potential for green development, has opened a carbon trading floor, and is promoting the development of the electric vehicle industry.
"I hope VinFast will cooperate strongly with Indonesian businesses and scientists," he said.
According to the announced plan, VinFast will invest at least 1.2 billion USD in Indonesia in the long term. In parallel with distributing imported cars from Vietnam in the first phase, VinFast will invest 200 million USD to build an electric vehicle factory with an expected output of up to 30,000 - 50,000 cars per year in Indonesia.
In addition to VinFast's investment plan, GSM also announced plans to invest up to 900 million USD in Indonesia in the near future.
VinFast and GSM also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with Indonesia's leading technology company - PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk to promote green transportation in Indonesia. The parties will support Gojek drivers to switch to electric vehicles, while providing Indonesian consumers with the opportunity to experience SM's 5-star Green mobility service with VinFast's environmentally friendly electric vehicles.
VinFast and GSM said they want to make a strong contribution to the goal of reducing traffic emissions that the Indonesian Government is aiming for. The agreement also opens up opportunities for cooperation and marks a new step for VinFast and GSM in the process of expanding operations to international markets in 2024.
Immediately after visiting the VinFast factory, the Indonesian President went to the airport to return home, ending his visit to Vietnam.
