Stable supply
Surveying the reality at some markets in Tuyen Quang city such as Tam Co, Phan Thiet, Nong Tien... and some markets in Ham Yen and Son Duong districts at this time, the supply of goods is guaranteed and taking place normally. However, some households are worried that after the storm, heavy rain may last longer, flood water has not receded immediately, so they buy and store food such as: pork, fish, green vegetables, fruits, instant noodles, rice...
Green vegetables are still guaranteed to be fully supplied in Tuyen Quang city.
Ms. Dang Thi Hien, a business owner at Nong Tien Ward Market (Tuyen Quang City) said: “Due to the storm, the supply of vegetables is scarce, so the price has increased by 10-20% compared to normal days. Specifically, water spinach, amaranth, and Malabar spinach are currently priced at 8,000 VND/bunch. Fruits such as squash are priced at 20,000 VND/kg, green squash is 25,000 VND/kg, and pumpkin is 18,000 VND/kg, an increase of 4-6,000 VND/kg. It is expected that after this flooding, the price of vegetables will double because they are damaged by the rain and floods.”
Pork and buffalo meat prices remain the same as usual; pork costs from 100,000 to 130,000 VND/kg; buffalo meat costs 250,000 to 260,000 VND/kg. Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuoi, who sells beef at Tam Co market (Tuyen Quang city), said: "Although affected by storms, meat prices have not increased. In the coming days, my family will still ensure food supply for consumers."
At facility 1 of the Sang Nhung Green Agricultural Products Center, there is still enough supply for people during the stormy days. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Center Manager, said: “The unit has prepared a large amount of goods before storm No. 3, so currently essential goods such as rice, meat of all kinds, vegetables, fruits, etc. are guaranteed to be supplied to people at prices that do not increase compared to normal. From the 8th to now, the unit has supplied the market about 7 times more than usual. The unit is still providing a variety of products to consumers.”
Mr. Phung Van Tap, Group 6, Tan Quang Ward (Tuyen Quang City), who specializes in supplying rice and animal feed, said that people have been buying a lot in reserve in recent days. By noon on September 10, very few people had the need to stock up. Currently, his family still has over 40 tons of rice of all kinds, there is no shortage and the price has not changed.
Gold Mart Son Duong supermarket in Son Duong town (Son Duong) still has an abundant supply of goods for people. Mr. Nguyen Tien Lam, Manager of Gold Mart Son Duong supermarket said: "The amount of goods imported before is large, so even after a week of heavy rain and floods, the supermarket still has enough goods to supply people with unchanged listed prices. The fruits and vegetables supplied daily are guaranteed to be fresh, delicious, and safe."
Closely monitor, do not let essential goods shortage
At Vincom Supermarket, on the morning of September 10, the number of customers coming to buy food, especially green vegetables and instant noodles, increased by 15-20% compared to normal days, but prices remained the same. As of 11:00, at this supermarket, all basic green vegetables were sold out. Talking to supermarket vegetable sales staff, it was learned that on September 11, the unit continued to import more vegetables from some provinces and increased the amount of goods from provinces and cities not affected by storms to ensure supply for customers.
The Provincial Business Association supports enterprises and cooperatives of the provinces participating in the Trade - Tourism Fair to rescue OCOP goods and local specialties at Kim Long Hotel, Group 13, Tan Ha Ward (Tuyen Quang City).
Ms. Le Thanh Loan, Tan Quang Ward (Tuyen Quang City) said: "Goods are quite abundant, prices have not changed, so we are assured and do not stockpile too much to cause shortages. My family only buys enough for 2 days in case of heavy rain or flooding and cannot move."
Comrade Loc Kim Lien, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that to ensure food supply for people after the flood, the unit has requested supermarkets, shopping malls, distributors, retail stores, and market management boards in the area to proactively promote exploitation and reserve additional goods, especially essential goods such as: rice, salt, sugar, cooking oil, poultry eggs, drinking water, processed foods, etc.
At the same time, it is ready to coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade and authorities at all levels to regulate the supply of goods to serve the needs of people in the province when requested. The Department closely monitors sales in the distribution system to prevent agents from hoarding goods, raising prices or speculating on price increases causing a "fever" of goods; has a plan to regulate the supply of goods to ensure adequate supply for each of its distribution agents and each residential area in the province; prioritizes localities and areas that are heavily affected by storms and floods to prevent shortages of essential goods to serve people's daily needs.
The Department requested districts to direct and urge production and business units to be proactive, have plans to ensure goods sources, appropriate goods supply plans; arrange human resources ready to support and transport essential goods to serve people in areas isolated by heavy rain and floods, remote areas in the area when necessary.
According to the quick situation from the Department of Industry and Trade and the actual survey of Tuyen Quang newspaper reporters, the supply of goods, especially essential goods serving the lives of people in the whole province, is still abundant and there is no risk of disruption.
