Highlights England beat Netherlands 2-1 in Euro 2024 semi-finals
"To be honest, I didn't dream about it, I swear I'm not lying," striker Ollie Watkins said after receiving the Man of the Match award for his 90th-minute goal that helped England come from behind to beat the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 semi-final on July 11.
Watkins' goal was considered by experts to be a great goal. The Aston Villa striker received the ball with his back to goal and was closely marked by Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij in the penalty area, but he still turned around and fired a low shot past goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.

The goal, scored in the final seconds of the match, sent England into the Euro 2024 final against Spain on July 15, a feat Watkins admitted he never dreamed of.
"Scoring for England is great, but I never thought I would do it in a big tournament like this," Ollie Watkins said.
The 28-year-old added: "A lot of people texted me today before the game saying I was going to score. It's funny but it happened. I hope I can do it again in the Euro final if I get to play.
I really don't know what to say. When you score a goal, emotions flood through your body, but this was a completely different feeling. It felt like the world stopped when I ran to my teammates to celebrate."
Notably, Ollie Watkins is not the striker that coach Gareth Southgate trusts at Euro 2024. The player born in 1995 was only put on the field in the semi-final when captain Harry Kane showed signs of fatigue and England needed a striker who could use his speed to break the deadlock at the end of the match.
"It's frustrating because I don't like being on the bench," said Watkins. "I've just had the best season of my career, but my friends told me to be patient and I'll get my chance. But when I was on the bench I said I could make a difference and now I've taken my chance and scored."

Now we're in the final. One last game. Spain are a great team, with a lot of depth, and this is the most important game of our lives. But now, we want to celebrate this victory first," Ollie Watkins concluded.
