(Dan Tri) - US President Donald Trump is about to give his first speech at a joint session of Congress after returning to the White House, in which he is expected to mention many issues in his ambitious agenda.

The last time President Donald Trump stepped up to the podium in the House of Representatives to address Congress was in 2020.
But five years later, the political landscape has changed dramatically. After a Covid-19 pandemic, a botched election, two assassination attempts and a surprise comeback, President Trump will return to the podium of Congress at 9 p.m. local time on March 4 (9 a.m. on March 5 Vietnam time) with many issues to inform and solve and an ambitious agenda to advance.
The speech is not officially called the “State of the Union” because Mr. Trump has not been in office for a full year. However, this event is highly anticipated, in the context of the US administration having many strong changes both at home and abroad in just over the past month.
The White House said the theme of the speech is “The Renewal of the American Dream.” According to sources familiar with the matter, the focus of Mr. Trump’s speech will be to convey the message that the President is making good on his commitment to renewing government institutions and making America greater again.
President Trump's second term is ushering in significant changes.
Trump’s advisers are keenly aware of the pace of political change in Washington and have made speed a top priority in pushing his agenda. Trump himself has learned from his first term not to wait for the right moment to make a commitment. Instead, he signs executive orders almost every day, sometimes deciding to sign them just minutes before.
Mr. Trump has signed a slew of executive orders — the most of any president in his first 100 days in nearly a century — on everything from pardoning defendants in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot and banning transgender people from serving in the military to imposing stiff tariffs on foreign imports and renaming the Gulf of Mexico.
He also quickly recalibrated America's role in the world, voting in favor of Russia at the United Nations, calling Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky a "dictator" and then engaging in a bitter war of words with Mr. Zelensky at a meeting in the Oval Office.
At the same time, his newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) quickly stepped in to vigorously reform the federal apparatus and has now effectively abolished a congressionally approved government agency.
Abroad, Mr Trump has upended the geopolitical order and shaken America’s alliances, especially the transatlantic relationship, by pursuing a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine — a subject he said he would address in his speech.
Mr Trump's workaholic style makes it difficult for most Americans to keep track of everything he does.
"I will tell the truth"
Trump's address to a joint session of Congress will serve as an extension and explanation of the tumultuous first 43 days of his new term, and advance his goals by creating a series of viral, memorable and impactful moments.
Mr Trump will lay out demands for Republicans to turn his agenda into law - the outcome of which will ultimately shape whether his presidency is successful or not.
"Tomorrow night is a big night. I'm going to tell the truth," Trump wrote on social media on March 3 local time.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk, who has emerged as one of President Trump's most influential and high-profile advisers, will also be in the House chamber to deliver a speech that will be seen as a prime example of the administration's swift action to change America.
A Trump adviser said the goal of the president’s speech was to connect his swift actions so far to ordinary Americans who may not understand the motivations behind his decisions. Trump is likely to mention plans to reduce the cost of living.
However, one of the main areas of concern is how President Trump will handle foreign wars, specifically the conflicts in Russia and Ukraine. And in his statement on March 3, Mr. Trump affirmed that he will focus on this issue in his speech this time.
"Okay, I'll let you know. We're going to have a speech, you probably heard about it, so I'll let you know tomorrow night," Mr. Trump emphasized.
Clearly, President Trump's first address to Congress will serve as a milestone. More than 32 million Americans watched former President Biden's State of the Union address last year.
This year’s speech is expected to draw a much higher audience. The reaction of the audience and the millions of people who will follow it will be a test of how much Americans really like the change Trump is bringing. It will be a way to shed light on both what Trump is doing and where America is headed.
