On the afternoon of June 1, the tour guides at the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum - where the image of nurse Geneviève de Galard is recreated in the panorama "Dien Bien Phu Campaign" also updated this information to visitors here.Mrs. Geneviève de Galard at the time of returning to France from Dien Bien Phu. Among more than 10,000 French prisoners at Dien Bien Phu in 1954, there was only one female prisoner, nurse Geneviève de Galard. "When she was captured, Ms. Geneviève de Galard wrote a letter to President Ho Chi Minh asking for clemency" - the tour guide informed. On May 24, 1954, Ms. Geneviève de Galard was released by President Ho Chi Minh. She was one of the first French prisoners to be released and returned to France after the war ended. When she returned to France in early June 1954, Ms. Geneviève de Galard was honored as a star. At the age of 80, Ms. Geneviève de Galard published an autobiography "Une femme à Dien Bien Phu" (roughly translated as "A woman in Dien Bien Phu") recounting her extraordinary life and fate at Dien Bien Phu.Laodong.vn
