Overcoming more than 1,800 applications
At the age of 18, Nguyen Thi Anh Tho (a freshman majoring in Foreign Economics at the Foreign Trade University) has excelled over 1,800 applications to be selected as a volunteer to serve the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians.
Anh Tho said she was very happy and moved to participate in such a large-scale international event. Despite her young age, Anh Tho was very confident and had a deep understanding of the program, as well as the knowledge base to serve the conference.
Anh Tho was born and raised in Nghe An. "I always thought that to become a student, I had to be active and full of enthusiasm. Knowing that the Global Young Parliamentarians Conference was held in Vietnam, I applied to volunteer and was very lucky to be accepted," the female student shared.

After completing the training course with the job of welcoming delegations to the National Assembly building, Anh Tho said that this program was very meaningful. "I will work with many delegates from different countries and can meet many high-ranking domestic and international delegates. During the training course, for the first time, a person from a small province like me was able to visit many places in Hanoi, such as the National Convention Center or 5-star hotels, where the delegations will work and stay...", Anh Tho said excitedly.
Spread the word about the benefits of technology
Evaluating the conference's theme "The role of youth in promoting the implementation of sustainable development goals, through digital transformation and innovation", Anh Tho said that it is a good topic and close to today's youth.
"The theme of the conference is not only close to young people, but also aimed at other groups in society such as the middle-aged or elderly. Through the theme, more people will be interested in digital transformation and promote this process in Vietnam," Anh Tho said.
"Technology has sometimes brought families together. For example, for students living far from home like me, it is difficult to see my parents often, and when I miss them, I don't know what to do. Thanks to digital technology, I can see my family more often," Anh Tho shared, and believes that everything has its downside, but young people need to use and apply it for better purposes.
Anh Tho has just become a new student at Foreign Trade University.

"Through this conference, we want to convey to young people, especially students, the benefits that technology brings, to develop the country and become global citizens," Anh Tho expressed.
Help international delegates know more about Vietnam
Anh Tho shared that when participating in the conference, she will introduce Vietnam to international delegates, so that they can see that Vietnam is a beautiful country, not only developed in terms of economy and society but also rich in culture and history.
"I hope that when delegates know more about Vietnam, they will have a deeper understanding and invest more in our country. For example, in the field of education, we can create more opportunities for young Vietnamese people to go abroad to learn about digital technology, helping them gain more knowledge, develop the country and contribute to sustainable development goals," said Anh Tho.
The female student also hopes that when international delegates come to Vietnam, they will feel the difference between Vietnam and other countries, which is the unique traditional culture and the friendliness, harmony and humanity of the Vietnamese people.
"I find Vietnamese people to be very humane. I believe that when delegates come into contact with us, they will feel the kindness of the Vietnamese people. That might be something they cannot find in other countries," the female student proudly said.
