I don't believe I'm a double valedictorian.

Since learning that she was the valedictorian of the 2024 national high school graduation exam and the valedictorian of block C00, Dinh Thi Bich Ngoc, a 12th grade English 1 student at Luong Van Tuy High School for the Gifted (Ninh Binh), has been extremely happy.

Relatives, teachers, and friends called to congratulate her, making the female student's phone always "hot".

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Ngoc happily said: "After finishing the graduation exam, I counted down the days waiting for the official exam scores to be announced. I did not expect the results to be beyond my expectations when I was the valedictorian of block C00 and also the valedictorian of the whole country at the same time. My family and I were moved to tears of joy."

Ngoc continued to confide that she reviewed the test results of each subject after the exam many times, especially when the Ministry of Education and Training announced the answers. Comparing the test results as well as the answers announced by the Ministry, Ngoc was able to calculate the scores of each subject she achieved.

"I graded the other subjects myself, and the results were exactly as I predicted. The literature subject was the one that I waited for and was most nervous about. I predicted that I would get about 9.25 points on my test. However, when the exam results were announced, I was overwhelmed because the score far exceeded my expectation of 9.75 points," the valedictorian happily said.

On the morning of July 17, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the exam scores. Compared to usual, Ngoc woke up earlier and sat at the computer to "watch" the scores. When she learned the scores of all subjects, Ngoc did not think that she would be the top student of her grade as well as the top student nationwide.

"My classmate called to tell me that I was the valedictorian of block C00 (Ngoc scored 29.75 points in 3 subjects: literature, history, and geography), I didn't believe it. When my homeroom teacher called to tell me that I was the valedictorian of block C00 and one of 19 valedictorians of this block, I was really surprised and happy. My parents also called to congratulate me, making me tear up."

The joy did not stop for the small student, when she was also announced as the national valedictorian of the 2024 high school graduation exam. At this time, Ngoc and her family members, teachers, and friends were happy in "double" joy.

Dream of becoming a teacher to help poor children

The female "double" valedictorian of the national high school graduation exam and valedictorian of block C00 continued to confide that at the end of grade 11 and the beginning of grade 12, she had a dream of becoming an English teacher. Therefore, in grade 12, she worked tirelessly to make that dream come true.

"During the summer vacation of grade 11, my class organized a visit to the Ninh Binh Province Social Protection Center. There, I met orphaned children in extremely difficult circumstances, which made me extremely emotional.

Since then, I have wanted to do something in the future to help them. And I chose to become a teacher, I will teach English to children, so that when they grow up, their lives will be less difficult," the national valedictorian shared.

To achieve high results, Dinh Thi Bich Ngoc has made constant efforts. Since middle school, Ngoc has shown herself to be a student with good qualities, excelling in all subjects. In high school, Ngoc chose an English major to pursue her passion and her plan is to study at the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Talking about her favorite student, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuong, the homeroom teacher, said: "Ngoc is one of the best students in the class. She has outstanding qualities when she is good at all subjects. In class, Ngoc gets along with everyone, often cares about helping her friends with study methods, solving difficult problems so that we can improve together."

Ms. Thuong briefly reviewed the remarkable achievements of the national valedictorian, specifically, in grade 10, Ngoc won first prize in the IELTS CHALLENGE English speaking contest organized by Ninh Binh province.

In grades 10 and 11, Ngoc was a member of the school team participating in the competition for excellent students in the Northern Coastal and Delta regions, winning a Bronze Medal for two consecutive years. In grade 12, she won first prize in the competition for excellent students in Ninh Binh province in English.

Revealing her learning method, Ngoc said: "To achieve high results, I don't study by rote. Every week I study one subject, learn the lessons of that subject firmly, then move on to another subject. When I have a firm grasp of the knowledge, I cover all the subjects again."

Evaluating this year's high school graduation exam, Ngoc said that the math and literature exams this year were highly differentiated and much more difficult than previous years.

"This year's math exam was very difficult, especially the last few questions. When I first read the last few questions, I was quite "panicked" because of the strange format, I had to think a lot. This year's literature exam was also quite long (18 questions). When taking the exam, we were also limited in time because the questions were both long and difficult," the "double" valedictorian shared.
