In addition, she also received the Best Thesis Award and the Toyo Global Leader Gold Award (award for individuals actively participating in extracurricular and international activities). Van Thien feels very happy and proud that her efforts have paid off. To achieve this result, Van Thien has set goals and made a specific study plan for herself. Maintaining daily study, focusing highly in class and self-study are the methods that the female student focuses on. She shared: "I try to maintain daily study and consider university study no different from high school study. Because when going to university, many people tend to "let loose", not really focusing on studying like before. Therefore, I think, anyway, it costs money and spends a lot of time on it, so try to study carefully. Moreover, this way of studying also helps me a lot in reviewing for exams".

While studying abroad, Van Thien felt lucky to have a full scholarship and did not have to worry about expenses. She said: "This is the largest full scholarship for undergraduates in Japan that I know of, even larger than the Government scholarship." Thanks to this support, Van Thien can focus on studying and developing herself. She also saves money to travel, attend courses, participate in extracurricular activities and participate in research. Van Thien's undergraduate research is often related to intellectual property rights, patents, innovation, and application of machine learning technology. In addition, according to her personal interests, Thien also does research on green consumer behavior, circular economy and energy transition. With impressive academic and research achievements, the female student continues to study at the Master's program in Sustainability Science, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences of the University of Tokyo in October this year. Sharing about her expectations in the new field of study, Van Thien said: "Currently, creativity needs to go hand in hand with sustainability. Therefore, I want to find out what tools are available to evaluate something sustainable, or how to make something more sustainable."

Van Thien hopes that after completing her master's degree, she will join a business or organization as a sustainability consultant. The value she aims for is to reduce the negative impact of businesses and organizations on society, the environment and the economy, creating many positive impacts. Understand yourself, understand the program and it must be suitable for you. It is known that choosing the land of cherry blossoms as a destination for her journey of self-discovery is a great opportunity for Van Thien. She never thought of studying abroad. But after spending 2 years studying at university in Vietnam and listening to the somewhat imposed concepts of success of the surrounding society, Thien wanted to study abroad to discover new things and step out of her comfort zone. In Van Thien's opinion, the important thing when deciding to study abroad is that young people really need to understand their wishes and plans. Because studying abroad is not a trend or to make their family proud. Studying abroad is an opportunity for you to challenge yourself and experience a new culture. If you are not ready to step out of your comfort zone, you should consider carefully. On her journey, Van Thien convinced them by sincerely sharing her real-life experiences. The young girl showed her courage when becoming the leader of projects related to education, daring to face challenges, turning difficulties into opportunities. Thanks to that, she was able to live fully with her emotions and desire to contribute to society.

Furthermore, when receiving a scholarship, you need to maintain good academic performance, at least at the permitted threshold to receive scholarships and periodic subsidies according to the admission program. If your performance and efforts do not meet the requirements of the program, your studies tend to decline, and international students may be burdened with debts, causing many negative effects on health and pressure to earn money to cover living expenses in a foreign land. Van Thien also advises you to prepare your health from physical to mental and financial to ensure the best adaptation when studying and living abroad. Especially for some countries like Japan, international students need to learn the language well to avoid feeling lost because they cannot hear or understand.
Van Thien is a co-founder and member of the research group - Youth Policy Working Group sponsored by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Vietnam; Co-author of the Report on Vietnamese Youth Action for Climate. Vietnamese delegate participating in COP28 Simulation Model, in Cairo, Egypt; ROK-Mekong Youth Group Workshop, in Seoul, Korea; UNLEASH Innovation Lab in Kigali, Rwanda; participating in the summer school program on International Development Studies in Oslo, Norway.
