Hearing the sound of a baby crying, monks in Long Am Pagoda, Dong La Commune, Dong Hung District (Thai Binh) went to the Buddha statue area and discovered an abandoned newborn baby boy.
On March 15, the leader of Dong La commune, Dong Hung district, Thai Binh province said that he had just received a newborn baby boy abandoned in front of Long Am pagoda gate.
Accordingly, on the night of March 13, Long Am pagoda discovered a baby boy over a month old abandoned at the foot of the Buddha statue, along with a note from his mother.
The letter reads: “ I am a student at a university in Hanoi. I am unlucky in love. I gave birth to my child in an unfortunate situation. I have hidden my current circumstances from my family and cannot raise my child. I will send him to the temple or ask the temple to give him to a family with the means to raise him. He was born on February 10, 2025, and I do not have a birth certificate yet and I have not named him yet. I would like to thank the temple and promise not to cause any trouble for the temple or the child in the future .”
After receiving the information, the People's Committee of Dong La commune took the child to Thai Binh Children's Hospital for a health check. At the same time, the Dong La commune health station was assigned to take care of the child and post information to find the child's relatives.
"The local government will post a notice within a week. If no one comes to claim the child, they will carry out adoption procedures according to regulations because there are currently many people who want to adopt the child," said a representative of Dong La commune.
