Oc Thanh Van (real name: Pham Thi Thanh Van), was born in Hai Phong, in a family with an artistic tradition. Oc Thanh Van's mother is a vocal teacher, so from an early age she learned to sing, dance, and play the piano.

In 1991, her family moved to Ho Chi Minh City and she continued to pursue her passion for art. At the age of 16, Oc Thanh Van participated in the 2000 Cinema Prospects Competition and reached the final round. Starting her acting career in 2005 in the field of drama, the role of Thuy in the horror play The Ghost Wife is considered Thanh Van's most impressive role on the Saigon Drama Stage. In more than a year, the play was performed more than 450 times and attracted a large audience. This memorable event brought Van the award for Most Favorite Drama Artist (HTV Award 2007).

2008 is considered the year Thanh Van had many breakthroughs along with rich experiences through many characters from the screen to the stage. After the role of wife Thuy in the play The Ghost Wife, she had the role of Dung in the play Tears of a Madman, then still with the role of wife in the new horror play The Deserted House ( aka The Ghost Wife Part 2).

In 2021, she participated in the movie "Flip Side 5 (48 hours)" by Ly Hai - a project that achieved a revenue of 150 billion VND.

Leaving showbiz to take care of family

After more than 15 years of working in the arts, Oc Thanh Van surprised the audience when she announced that she would be pausing her career. Revealing this decision, she said that she has now found a new goal to help her life become more fulfilling.

Sharing the reason for temporarily leaving showbiz, Oc Thanh Van said she wanted to focus on taking care of her family. After more than 10 years of living together, the Lat mat 5 star and her husband have three children. The eldest son nicknamed Coca was born in 2011, followed by daughter Cola born in 2013 and baby Cacao born in 2015.

The actress confided that her life is now very simple, without the need to wear makeup, wear nice clothes, or appear neat every day. Although this is a big change, Oc Thanh Van feels that this is suitable for her current personality.

For Oc Thanh Van, daily joy is very small, simple and truly peaceful. She believes that one way or another, the destination of human life is to find joy, to find the person inside oneself and she herself has done that.

"Currently, I live like a normal person. I start my day very early with yoga classes both in person and online. The rest of the time, I take my children to and from school. I participate in all their school activities and do not miss a single moment of their time.

I also have a business and it is really much more difficult to maintain the company's operations now than in previous years, so I have to make a lot of effort," she said.

Moreover, Oc Thanh Van feels happy because even though she has left the stage, she is still remembered by the audience, and is often called by name and asked about. She calls it the luck and blessing that an artist has after many years of working.

Oc Thanh Van revealed that she occasionally participates in a few film projects. As for the stage, the actress has not had the opportunity to return for a long time, and the field of long-running television series is even more difficult.
