NTO - Provincial People's Council: Supervising thematic policy on tourism development in Phan Rang City

On May 15, the Provincial People's Council Supervisory Delegation led by Comrade Tran Minh Luc, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, had a thematic supervision session on "Results of implementing policies and laws on tourism development in the period of 2021-2023" in Phan Rang-Thap Cham City. The delegation included Comrade Lam Dong, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee, Head of the Provincial People's Council's Culture and Society Committee.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Phan Rang-Thap Cham City, in the period of 2021-2023, based on the resolutions of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Council on tourism development, the locality has issued 14 related documents for implementation. The city proactively communicates and promotes tourism; annually develops plans to organize cultural, culinary, sports and tourism events to implement solutions to stimulate tourism development; implement activities to ensure security, order and safety for tourists; effectively coordinate the management of tourism business activities; pay attention to planning management, environmental sanitation, digital transformation to serve tourism development... Phan Rang - Thap Cham City invested over 60 billion VND to renovate and upgrade urban infrastructure, traffic infrastructure, drainage, organize entertainment and sightseeing spaces to serve tourism. Thanks to the synchronous implementation of many solutions, tourism activities in the area have continued to develop strongly in recent years. The number of visitors and revenue from tourism activities each year is always higher than the previous year. Specifically: In 2021, welcoming 855,000 visitors, revenue from tourism activities is about 565.5 billion VND; in 2022, welcoming 1.68 million visitors, revenue is about 980 billion VND; in 2023, welcoming 2.46 million visitors, revenue is about 1,950 billion VND. Currently, the city is coordinating with the Center for Rural Development under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City to complete the Project "Developing tourism in Phan Rang - Thap Cham City in the period of 2023-2025, with a vision to 2030".

Concluding the supervision session, Mr. Tran Minh Luc, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, acknowledged and highly appreciated the leadership, direction and implementation of tourism development policies of the City Party Committee and the People's Committee of Phan Rang - Thap Cham City. In order to make tourism a spearhead economic sector, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council requested the locality to pay attention to: Reviewing tourism development plans to ensure compliance with the general planning, especially land use planning; legal basis, regulations on tourism management activities, ensuring the implementation force; researching how to calculate the number of visitors and revenue from tourism activities to ensure accuracy in order to effectively carry out management and strategy building; organizing the assignment and decentralization of management to fully exploit potential advantages; it is necessary to clarify the Project "Developing tourism in Phan Rang - Thap Cham City for the period 2023-2025, with a vision to 2030" in terms of capital sources, implementation time, and scale; Strengthening the promotion of the city's image; focusing on training human resources for tourism, especially high-quality human resources; continuing to promote digital transformation in the tourism sector.
